Role Purpose

This role primarily supports the Financial Accounting team in:

  • Designing and implementing system architecture and processes to accurately capture project costs.
  • Establishing reporting frameworks and strengthening governance around project delivery, in partnership with the central Transformation team.
  • Driving regular reporting and engagement with LBUs (proposed monthly), supporting recharging arrangements and providing insights for the Transformation team's monthly reporting.

Organisational Context

  • Investment activity has increased significantly, with North Star and other major initiatives underway.
  • There is currently no formal Project Accounting framework to track investment spend, benefit cases, and related recharges.
  • Internal Audit has highlighted governance gaps in the North Star programme, reinforcing the need for stronger structure, controls, and reporting discipline.

Key Accountabilities

Business-As-Usual (BAU)

  • Monitor and follow up with LBU Finance teams to ensure timely submission of actual project cost data.
  • Review and analyse monthly actual project costs for Corporate Entities (CE) and Business Units (BU).
  • Track and follow up on late quarterly forecast submissions from LBU Finance teams.
  • Review and analyse CE/BU quarterly project cost forecasts.
  • Support the upload of approved project budgets and quarterly forecasts into the accounting system.

Non-BAU

  • Develop and document detailed step-by-step BAU process instructions.
  • Support the setup of new cost centers and MI Oracle hierarchy, ensuring alignment with dashboard structures, including testing and validation.
  • Perform a one-time cleanup of legacy project codes migrated from prior General Ledger systems.

Requirements

  • Qualified Accountant (mandatory)
    with proven experience in system implementation and report development.
  • Experience working within a dynamic reporting or project accounting function (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Excel and major accounting software packages; experience with Oracle, Smartview, and Power BI is advantageous.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, able to work across finance, transformation, and business units.
  • Strong analytical ability with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with key stakeholders as required.
