Senior Pharmacy Technician

JOB SUMMARY

1.1 Responsible for assisting the Pharmacy Manager in the overall management of the Pharmacy Department in ensuring efficient and effective operations as well as of drugs for the hospital.

1.2 Performing duties and responsibilities which include providing review, preparing and dispensing of medications.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

2.1 To assist the Pharmacy Manager in the planning, organizing, supervising and monitoring the provision of pharmaceutical services and an effective drug distribution service within the Hospital in accordance with professional practice requirements, existing legislations and agreed hospital policies

2.2 To supervise the day-to-day running of the Hospital's Inpatient Pharmacy, Outpatient Pharmacy, Retail pharmacy, Oncology Satellite Pharmacy, A&E Satellite Pharmacy and any satellite units where assigned

2.3 To implement and ensure compliance to departmental policies, procedures, guidelines and practices are adhered to by the staff in the unit assigned

2.4 To plan, manage and liaise with the Pharmacy Manager on the acute and long term staffing needs and requirements of the unit. Ensures manpower resources are utilized in an efficient and effective manner to maintain adequate staffing level during operational hours

2.5 To interpret, prepare and dispense drug prescriptions for all patients and maintain appropriate records for hospital use and for legislative purposes

2.6 To perform drug counseling when required

2.7 To supervise the pharmacy dispensers and pharmacy assistants in the preparation of drug orders and related duties

2.8 To ensure that pharmaceutical charges for the department are posted in the Hospital Management System accurately

2.9 To assist in setting up pharmaceutical inventory level and maintain adequate stocks at all outlets

2.10 To be responsible for the storage, control, documentation, supply and record keeping of Psychotropic, Dangerous Drugs and Controlled Drugs and proper maintenance of an approved inventory system in the whole hospital

2.11 To conduct training for Pharmacy personnel, nursing staff and other healthcare personnel.

2.12 To provide drug information to doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers and members of the public

2.13 To keep professionally up-dated with current trends, research and techniques related the industry and profession

2.14 To ensure the staffing roster is appropriate for operational needs

2.15 To prepare On call and any departmental staff roster for Pharmacy department.

2.15 To participate in the pharmacist rotational roster where applicable

2.16 To assist the manager to coordinate and participate in stock takes exercise as scheduled by the hospital

2.17 To support the Hospital Administration in the preparation, documentation and implementation of any program towards the accreditation of ISO, MSQH and any other quality systems accreditation

2.18 To establish and maintain good rapport and working relationships with open communication channels with all healthcare workers and staff of the hospital

2.19 You are responsible to be engaged in the department and Hospital quality indicators

2.20 To perform any additional duties and assignments by the Pharmacy Manager

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION

Diploma in Pharmacy or equivalent

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

· Minimum 5 years' relevant working experience at supervisory level, preferably in Hospital Pharmacy.

· Proficient in all MS Office applications (Powerpoint, Excel, Word).

OTHER ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT(S)

· Proven working track record in previous pharmaceutical field.

· Well versed in computer software such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

· Registered with the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia.

· Good Leadership & Management Skills.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: RM4, RM6,000.00 per month
