Your new role

Hays Sunway Malaysia office is looking for a HR and Payroll Officer to join our internal payroll team. This is a full-time permanent role.

You'll play a key part in delivering outsourced payroll services for clients in Hong Kong and Singapore. Flexibility to work occasional weekends and public holidays during critical payroll periods, ensuring alignment with Hong Kong and Singapore schedules.

Main responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day HR operations and maintain accurate employee records in payroll systems
  • Maintenance of employee master data record
  • Process payroll end-to-end, including salary calculations, tax returns, final payments, government statutory contributions, and group insurances.
  • Ensure compliance with Hong Kong Employment Ordinance and Singapore Ministry of Manpower regulations
  • Prepare accurate payroll journals and coordinate invoicing with finance teams
  • Liaise with front-office teams and provide remote support to Hong Kong during payroll cycles

What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience in outsourced payroll operations
  • Fluent English; Cantonese or Mandarin is highly regarded
  • Familiarity with Hong Kong Employment Ordinance and Singapore MOM regulations is an advantage
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and attention to detail
  • Solid numerical ability; basic accounting knowledge is an advantage
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and perform under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative mindset
