Head of Product Quality Engineering

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or any related field
• Minimum 10 years of working experience in software testing or quality assurance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or managerial role related to the scope of work offered.
• Strong knowledge of quality assurance strategy, test planning, testing methodologies, and QA governance frameworks.
• Thorough understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies, and modern software delivery workflows.
• Proficiency in QA and automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Appium, JMeter, Postman, or equivalent tools.
• Experience in designing, reviewing, or governing test automation frameworks and writing test automation scripts using Java, Python, JavaScript, or equivalent languages.
• Strong analytical, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex QA operations and cross-functional dependencies.
• Demonstrated capability in SLA governance, defect metrics, and quality performance reporting.
• Preferably with knowledge on ISO/IEC 27001, SOC 2, PCI-DSS, ISO 31000, ISO/IEC 27005, or ISMS.
• Experience working in fuel retail, POS systems, SaaS platforms, or related industries would be an added advantage.
• ISTQB Advanced Level, Certified Agile Tester (CAT), or equivalent professional certification would be an added advantage.
• Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty.

Responsibilities

• Build, protect, and continuously improve the organization's Quality Engineering intellectual property, including testing frameworks, automation assets, quality standards, test strategies, and procedural documentation.
• Build, manage, and motivate the department by overseeing day-to-day operations, delivery effectiveness, capability development, and performance outcomes.
• Ensure quality processes, documentation, and validation activities support internal and external audits, regulatory requirements, and change management governance across the delivery lifecycle.
• Define and implement the Quality Engineering strategy aligned with business objectives, product roadmaps, platform architecture, and information security requirements.

• Lead the transition from traditional QA to Quality Engineering practices, embedding quality ownership early across product design, development, and delivery.

• Ensure product quality under real operating scenarios, including but not limited to:

• High-transaction and peak-load scenarios

• Multi-site, multi-device, and offline-to-online use cases

• Regression risk introduced by frequent releases and platform changes

• Integration failures between product, platform, and third-party services

• Data integrity, security, and compliance-sensitive scenarios

• Production hotfixes, emergency releases, and rollback conditions

• Define quality acceptance criteria and risk thresholds for each scenario to determine release readiness.

• Govern release readiness decisions based on:

• Defect severity, defect leakage trends, and unresolved risk items

• Automation coverage for critical paths and high-risk flows

• Impact analysis for changes affecting stability, performance, or security

• Ensure no release proceeds without explicit quality sign-off against agreed risk thresholds.

• Drive automation adoption based on business-critical scenarios by:

• Prioritising automation for high-risk, high-frequency, and regression-prone cases

• Ensuring automation improves release confidence, not just test count

• Reducing manual testing effort while increasing coverage predictability

• Drive continuous improvement by:

• Learning from escaped defects, production incidents, and customer issues

• Updating test strategies and scenarios based on real operational outcomes

• Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment, efficiency, and consistent execution across departments.
