About the role
As the Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in building ProtectHealth's end-to-end data infrastructure. You will design pipelines, data models, and warehouse/lake architectures that power analytics, BI, and machine learning across all national healthcare schemes under ProtectHealth.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role shaping the organisation's entire data backbone.
What you'll be doing
- Build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Airflow, dbt, Prefect, or Python.
- Design analytics-friendly data models (star/snowflake, lakehouse architecture).
- Manage databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, ClickHouse, or similar).
- Optimise queries, indexing, and performance tuning.
- Implement data validation, quality monitoring, and metadata documentation.
- Collaborate with Data Scientists and ML Engineers to support production models.
What we're looking for
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in data engineering, ETL/ELT development, or data warehousing.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, Pandas, PySpark, and Linux.
- Hands-on experience with workflow tools like Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster is an advantage.
- Familiarity with Docker, Git, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
- Strong troubleshooting, optimisation, and problem-solving skills.
