Job Scope / Position Summary

  • Lead and manage all underwriting aspect of Casualty Lines of business.
  • Formulate and execute strategies to grow target business for Casualty Lines of business.
  • Maintain profitability for Casualty Lines of business.
  • Rendered technical assistance to both internal and external parties for underwriting matters related to Casualty Lines of business.

Main Responsibility

  • Underwrite all aspect of Casualty Lines of business within given authority and guidelines.
  • Formulate and execute strategies to grow targeted Casualty lines of business in collaboration with business units.
  • Ensure strict compliance to regional/ local guidelines, external guidelines, and treaty protection in force at all times.
  • Be the subject matter expertise for all aspects relating to Casualty Lines of business.
  • Regular analysis of Casualty Lines business portfolio and act where necessary to ensure the profitability is maintained at the desired level.
  • Maintain the profitability of Casualty Lines of business.
  • Ensure excellent customers service is always extended to internal and external customers and within the set service standards.
  • Organize/ provide technical training to team members, business team as well as intermediaries on all Casualty Lines of businesses.
  • Close monitoring of Casualty Lines portfolio performance and if necessary to highlight any potential adverse claims trend.
  • Ensure technical infrastructure such as policy wordings, clauses, and endorsements (for all Casualty line of business) are in line with market practice and at the same time meeting the Generali Group, regional aspiration, and direction.
  • Undertake other responsibilities or projects as assigned and/or ad-hoc function as and when required by the HOD.

Qualification and Experience Requirement

  • Degree in Engineering (preferably Chemical Engineering), Accounting/ Finance / Actuarial Science/ Food Technology/ Science/ Investment/ Business Administration (major in Finance)
  • AMII/ CII/ CMII/ DMCII or equivalent insurance qualification
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in Casualty Underwriting and/ or similar role/ capacity with minimum 5 years' experience of holding manager and above position
  • Sound Underwriting knowledge in respective classes of insurance
  • Possess good presentation, negotiation and analytical skills
