About the Role

As an R&D Chemist / Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and improving high-performance materials for the electronics and industrial sectors. This position involves hands-on laboratory work, process design, product formulation, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams to transform innovative concepts into scalable, market-ready solutions. You will contribute to Penchem's strategic growth by driving research initiatives that strengthen product quality, sustainability, and customer satisfaction.


What you will be doing

  • Design and conduct laboratory experiments for formulation development, process improvement, material evaluation, and application validation.
  • Research and review technical information to support innovation and new product development activities.
  • Analyze test results, prepare detailed technical reports, and present findings to management and project teams.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including Technical Data Sheets (TDS), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and Bills of Materials (BOM).
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality assurance, marketing, and sales teams to align R&D projects with business objectives and customer requirements.
  • Support process scale-up and technology transfer from laboratory to production, ensuring consistency and process reliability.
  • Provide technical support to customers, including troubleshooting, product qualification, and on-site assistance.
  • Monitor advancements in materials, technologies, and industry regulations relevant to adhesives and advanced materials.
  • Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and environmental standards in all R&D activities.

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Applied Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related discipline.
  • 1–5 years of relevant experience in R&D, preferably within the adhesives, polymers, electronics, or chemical manufacturing industries.
  • Practical experience with analytical and characterization techniques such as TMA, DMA, DSC, TGA, thermal conductivity, electrical resistivity, and FTIR. Experience with root cause analysis and experimental design is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin (spoken and written) is an added advantage, as the role may involve communication with Mandarin-speaking customers, particularly from China.
