Safety Officer

Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct Safety Inspections: Safety officers regularly inspect work areas, facilities, equipment, and processes to identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions, and non-compliance with safety regulations.
- Provide Safety Training: Safety officers develop and conduct safety training sessions for employees to educate them on safety procedures, protocols, and best practices. This may include new employee orientation, specialized training for specific tasks or equipment, and ongoing safety education.
- Investigate Incidents: Safety officers investigate accidents, injuries, near misses, and other safety incidents to determine the root cause and contributing factors. They analyze data, interview witnesses, and compile reports to prevent similar incidents in the future.
- Develop Safety Policies and Procedures: Safety officers develop and update safety policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards. They may also create safety manuals, guidelines, and documentation to communicate safety requirements to employees.
- Conduct Safety Meetings: Safety officers organize and lead safety meetings with management, safety committees, and employees to discuss safety issues, review incident reports, and implement corrective actions. They may also facilitate discussions on safety goals, initiatives, and improvement opportunities.
- Monitor Compliance: Safety officers monitor and enforce compliance with safety regulations, standards, and policies. They conduct audits, inspections, and reviews to ensure that safety protocols are being followed and identify areas for improvement.
- Provide Safety Consultation: Safety officers serve as a resource for employees, managers, and other stakeholders on safety-related matters. They provide guidance, advice, and recommendations on safety issues, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
- Promote Safety Culture: Safety officers promote a culture of safety within the organization by raising awareness, recognizing safety achievements, and encouraging employee involvement in safety initiatives. They may also organize safety campaigns, events, and initiatives to engage employees and foster a safe work environment.
- Other duties as assigned by superior.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
- Request minimum 3 years of working experience in manufacturing environment.
- Candidate who able to read, write and speak Mandarin/Chinese will have added advantage as he may need to communicate with China colleagues.
- Candidates who possess the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) offered by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) and the Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST) certification offered by the BCSP will adding advantages.
- Safety officers should have a strong understanding of occupational health and safety regulations and standards relevant to manufacturing industry and jurisdiction. This may include regulations such as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other regulatory bodies.
- Safety officers should possess technical skills related to hazard identification, risk assessment, safety management systems, and incident investigation. Proficiency in using safety equipment, software tools, and data analysis techniques may also be required.
