Research & Development (R&D) Engineer

We are looking for a passionate E&E Engineer to join R&D Dept in Penang, Malaysia. You will play a key role in the design, development, and optimization of advanced optical communication and automation systems. Working closely with global teams, you will help deliver innovative engineering solutions that enhance product performance and reliability. Depending on your expertise, you may be involved in hardware design, automation software development, optical system design, or testing and validation. This position offers exposure to state-of-the-art technologies and global collaboration opportunities. You will also have the chance to travel overseas for on-the-job training at R&D Centre in Shanghai, China, gaining valuable international experience and technical development in a world-class engineering environment.

1. Hardware Engineer, R&D

• Participate in the hardware design and development of new transceiver products.
• Support hardware testing and resolve technical design issues.
• Collaborate with the manufacturing team to analyze and troubleshoot transceiver problems.
• Assist in new product introduction and process improvement initiatives.

Skills & Requirements:

• Bachelor or Master's Degree or Ph.D. in electronics, electrical engineering, optical communications, communication system, or a related field.
• A strong technical education background in high speed circuit or optical communication is desirable.
• Experience in high speed circuits design and simulation is a plus.
• Familiar with schematic and PCB layout design and tools is a plus.
• Self-motivated, strong problem-solving capabilities and analytical skills.
• Good written and oral communication skills in English.

2. Software Engineer, R&D

• Develop automation systems and software solutions for high-tech manufacturing environments.
• Work with mechanical and electrical engineers on system integration for motion, vision, and testing applications.
• Support R&D projects, including software system development, maintenance, and process automation.
• Collaborate with global teams, vendors, and suppliers to ensure successful system implementation.

Skills & Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in automation, mechatronic engineering or computer science/engineering.
• Knowledge in automation systems and hands-on experiences in developing software.
• Familiar with the C, VC, C# language.
• Preferred with experience in motion control, machine vision, data management and DAQ& GPIB application.
• Preferred with experience in SQL database.
• Hands-on experience of software system development and implementation.
• Self-motivated, thorough, and creative to understand new tools & technology
• A good team player with good communication & presentation in English.

3. Optical Engineer, R&D

• Design and develop new or customized optical sub-assembly (OSA) products.
• Analyze customer and market technical requirements to develop innovative optical solutions.
• Work with cross-functional teams to test and verify optical performance and system reliability.
• Support the transfer of new optical designs to manufacturing and assist in root cause analysis.

Skills and Requirements:

• Master's degree in Optics, Electro-optics, Physics or Electrical Engineering with strong optics and fiber optic background.
• Ability to use optical simulation tools such as Zemax/Code V, and to analysis the system tolerance.
• Knowledge of optical test solutions and has the ability to do experiments and root cause analysis.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English is desired.
• Must be self-motivated, and good teamwork spirit.

4. Switch Test Engineer, R&D

• Develop test scripts and algorithms to measure optical communication module performance.
• Create automated tools using programming languages such as C#, C++, or Python.
• Support firmware and software integration for test systems.
• Conduct failure analysis and troubleshoot issues using experiments and documentation review.

Skills & Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Science or higher in computer science/engineering, electrical engineering, communication engineering, automation or related area.
• Proficient in C#, C, C++ or Java is a must.
• Knowledge in switch development or test development on switch is good plus.
• Proficient in Python, AI technology, JavaScript, Linux, embedded system design, PCB design or FPGA development is good plus.
• Strong learning ability and problem-solving ability, be able to find creative solutions for challenging technical problems.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• A good team player, self-motivated and able to work independently.
