About the role

We are looking for Workshop Intern to join our dynamic team at SR EV AUTOMOTIVE's in Seberang Jaya, Penang. This internship will assist in various workshop operations, including vehicle repair, diagnostics, quality control under the guidance of experienced technicians and undergo multiple On-the-Job Training sessions across various departments in workshop. This internship provides an opportunity to learn about Tesla's vehicle technologies, repair procedures, and the standards required to work in a professional body shop environment.

What you'll be doing

• Assist technicians with disassembling and reassembling vehicles involved in body repair.
• Learn and follow the process for removing damaged parts and reinstalling new or repaired components.
• Provide support to the team by helping with mechanical repairs, including suspension, braking, and drivetrain components.
• Assist with basic electrical systems and wiring work under the supervision of qualified technicians.
• Observe and assist in using Tesla's diagnostic equipment (e.g., Tesla Toolbox) for electrical and mechanical issue identification.
• Learn how to troubleshoot basic issues with vehicle sensors, control systems, and high-voltage components.
• Assist in preparing vehicles for paint and panel work, including sanding, masking, and surface preparation.
• Learn the importance of color match, finish quality, and surface preparation in line with Tesla's quality standards.
• Ensure all safety protocols are followed in the workshop, including handling of high-voltage systems and working with mechanical tools.
• Assist with quality control checks on completed repairs, ensuring adherence to Tesla's standards.
• Assist with receiving and organizing parts inventory in the workshop.
• Help with parts identification, ordering, and organizing supplies for repair jobs.
• Learn how to perform reprogramming tasks under supervision, ensuring vehicle systems are functioning correctly after repairs.
• Support the workshop team in maintaining accurate repair documentation, time tracking, and service records.
• Assist with preparing job cards and performing administrative tasks as required.
• Participate in on-the-job training sessions to learn about Tesla's repair procedures, technology, and tools.
• Gain exposure to vehicle diagnostic tools, specialized repair equipment, and industry-standard practices.
• Work closely with senior technicians, body shop staff, and service advisors to ensure efficient vehicle repairs and smooth workshop operations.
• Communicate effectively with the workshop team regarding job progress and issues.
• Perform any ad hoc tasks as and when required.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree or diploma in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Must have a strong interest in electric vehicles and automotive repair technologies.
• Basic understanding of vehicle mechanical systems (engine, suspension, braking) and electrical systems (wiring, diagnostics).
• Strong willingness to learn, work in a fast-paced environment, and take initiative.
• Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a hands-on environment, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Comfortable working in the workshop or garage environment.
• Willing to work at Seberang Jaya, Pulau Pinang.
• Work from Monday - Friday and half day on Saturday.

Job Type: Internship

Contract length: 3-6 months

Pay: RM RM800.00 per month
