Operational Management

• Familiarity with MLC and STCW regulations is required.

• Experience in the merchant shipping sector is preferred.

• Point of Contact for executing crew deployment and repatriation activities of Malaysian seafarers in the fleet, ensuring timely sign-on and sign-off.

• Monitor the manning and deployment of all Malaysian joiners, ensuring smooth operations.

• Coordinate with MPD and planners for Malaysian joiners' nomination and joining arrangements.

• Conduct seafarer documentation checks, including Certificate of Competency verification for authenticity.

• Arrange air travel, process travel-related POs in Bassnet, and ensure finalized travel plans are updated in the system.

• Handle crew logistics, including LOI/LOG, visas, OKTB, hotel accommodations, and local transport for smooth sign-on/off operations.

• Manage updates to senior officers' ANOR lists and oversee the readiness of junior officers, ratings, and cadets.

• Follow up on promotions, evaluations, and appraisals for sea staff.

• Liaise with the Training Department to inform officers about training schedules and assist with certification preparation.

• Support medical claims and follow-ups on crew injury cases of Malaysian Seafarers in the fleet.

• Highlight crew P&I issues to the claims team for medical signoffs and provide the Legal Advisor with evidence and reports for cases involving injuries, desertions, and illnesses.

• Maintain direct communication with Malaysian seafarers regarding documentation, joining formalities, and training schedules.

Outreach and Engagement Activities

• Organize and support educational initiatives, including seminars, workshops, guest lectures, and career awareness programs at maritime schools and training institutions.

• Collaborate with institutions to establish partnerships for training programs and in-house training for PIL seafarers.

• Participate in community and industry engagement activities, such as awareness campaigns, networking events, and local maritime-related initiatives.

• Coordinate digital and online outreach with internal departments by promoting PIL's presence on LinkedIn and other platforms through articles, videos, and general industry knowledge-sharing.

• Support mentorship and career guidance programs aimed at developing maritime professionals.

• Build relationships with educational institutions, maritime schools, and training providers to support outreach and training activities.

• Facilitate internal training programs for PIL seafarers through partnerships with educational institutions, ensuring alignment with company objectives.

• Prepare reports on outreach and engagement activities, ensuring alignment with legal and compliance requirements.

• Maintain accurate and timely updates of crew details, certifications, and employment history in Bassnet.

• Collect and analyze feedback from participants to refine future initiatives.

• Support new initiatives and projects as assigned by Head Office.

• Assist in maintaining accurate and organized records of all activities and operational processes

• Build and maintain relationships with educational institutions, training providers, and local stakeholders.

• Lead the planning and execution of educational initiatives, training programs, and engagement activities in Malaysia.

• Collaborate with PMA offices, manning agents, and service providers to address and resolve deployment concerns effectively.

• Act as a liaison between the crewing team and stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and operations.

• Guide and mentor junior officers and cadets, ensuring they are prepared for deployment and career progression.

• Support the implementation of new initiatives, policies, and procedures to improve operational efficiency and crew welfare.

• Engage with seafarers to address concerns, promote welfare, and enhance their overall experience.
