An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) driver's primary role is to safely transport patients, staff, and sometimes goods in an ambulance or other emergency response vehicle. They must follow road safety regulations, maintain a clean driving record, and assist with vehicle maintenance. Additional duties may include responding to emergency calls, assisting with patient transfers, and participating in quality improvement initiatives.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Emergency Medical Response

  • Provide care and transportation for emergency and non-emergency cases.
  • Provide pre-hospital emergency care and life support to patients during ambulance transport to hospitals or emergency rooms.
  • Provide Medical Coverage for High-Risk Events
  • Conveying patients to hospital promptly whilst ensuring compliance to all Traffic Regulations

Code of Conduct

  • Maintain professionalism, responsibility, and accountability in all duties.

Operations

  • Ensuring operational readiness and cleanliness of Ambulance assigned to the driver.

SCDF Emergency Medical Services Specific Duties

  • Ensure safe navigation and rapid response during SCDF EMS activations in accordance to KPIs.
  • Assist in stretcher operations and patient handling during high-acuity SCDF calls.
  • Conduct vehicle readiness checks aligned with SCDF EMS daily vehicle inspection requirements.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Class 3 driving license
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to excellent customer service.
  • Ability to adapt, solve problems, and work effectively under pressure.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours with benefits provided for extra hours worked.
  • Full vaccination against COVID-19 due to the high-risk nature of the position.
  • Experience supporting SCDF emergency response runs and understanding of routing protocols is preferred.
  • For EMS Ambulance Drivers, the Emergency Medical Technician and Emergency Vehicle Driving Course will be a requirement. Applicants who do not have such certifications will be sent for the course.
