Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide technical expertise in the development of new products and improvements to existing ones.
  2. Plan, execute, and evaluate projects while ensuring compliance with food safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  3. Resolve technical issues during product development, including production, operations, and performance challenges.
  4. Manage a portfolio of R&D projects focused on new and innovative technologies, including raw materials, ingredients, equipment, packaging, and processes.
  5. Collaborate with internal teams (Operations, Quality, Marketing, Purchasing) and external partners to manage product development projects from concept to commercialization.
  6. Work closely with Operations, Quality, Purchasing, and Marketing teams to communicate technical information, oversee plant trials, and support market launches.
  7. Oversee physical and chemical testing of products, particularly new products, to ensure quality and performance standards.
  8. Conduct nutritional analysis and calculations for both new and existing products, as required.
  9. Manage product costing for both new and existing products.
  10. Ensure necessary quality assessments are conducted for all raw materials upon arrival, making adjustments to operations as needed based on results.
  11. Negotiate and coordinate with suppliers for raw materials and ingredients. Continuously explore alternate suppliers for major bulk ingredients to optimize cost management while maintaining product quality.
  12. Stay updated on industry trends, consumer insights, and competitor strategies through competitor product analysis.
  13. Apply independent analytical and creative thinking to develop proper procedures, planning, and follow-up strategies.
  14. Demonstrate adaptability in handling multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines through effective time management.
  15. Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills to develop recipes, write procedures, and create process parameter control plans.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned by management as needed.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Nutrition, Baking Science and Technology, Flour Milling Science, or a related field.
  2. Strong knowledge of functional food ingredients and their applications in product development.
  3. Knowledge and experience in the bakery industry is a strong advantage.
  4. At least 2 years of experience in Research and Development.
  5. Solid understanding of food production and processing, along with comprehensive knowledge of food safety standards, including HACCP, GMP, FSSC 22000, and HALAL.
  6. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  7. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  8. Fluent in English and Malay.
  9. Demonstrates a structured and disciplined approach to planning, managing, and completing projects successfully.
  10. Ability to work effectively under a fast-paced environment, while maintaining focus and delivering quality results.
