Position Overview

The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the Project Manager in executing development and construction activities from design through to completion. The role involves close coordination with consultants, contractors, and authorities to ensure the project is delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality and safety standards.

This position bridges the gap between design, technical review, and on-site execution, ensuring smooth communication between office and site operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Coordination & Planning

  • Assist in preparing and updating project implementation schedules and work programs.
  • Coordinate between consultants, contractors, and internal departments to ensure timely project progress.
  • Participate in design coordination meetings to review and resolve technical discrepancies.
  • Monitor project deliverables to align with approved design, specifications, and contractual requirements.

2. Site Supervision & Technical Support

  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor construction progress, quality, and safety.
  • Verify works on-site are in accordance with approved drawings and technical specifications.
  • Identify and resolve site-related issues with contractors and consultants.
  • Monitor and report on daily site activities, manpower, and material usage.

3. Cost & Procurement Support

  • Assist in preparing technical evaluations for tenders and quotations.
  • Monitor variation orders, material approvals, and shop drawings.
  • Provide technical input for value engineering and cost optimization initiatives.

4. Authority & Regulatory Compliance

  • Support in submission and follow-up of authority applications and approvals.
  • Ensure all works comply with statutory requirements and development conditions.

5. Quality, Safety & Environmental Management

  • Ensure compliance with project QA/QC and HSE procedures.
  • Support in managing testing, commissioning, and defect rectification works.
  • Participate in project handover and close-out documentation.

6. Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports.
  • Maintain up-to-date drawings, inspection records, and project correspondence.
  • Document lessons learned for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Building, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 2–5 years of working experience in property development, project, or construction.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting drawings.

  • Knowledge in project planning tools (MS Project, Primavera).

  • Familiar with construction standards, authority regulations, and contract administration.

  • Soft Skills:

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive.

  • Good communication and coordination abilities.

  • Team player with strong problem-solving skills.

  • Language: Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

  • Other: Possess own transport and willing to travel to sites.
