CAPS is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Applications Engineer to manage and prepare high-quality, commercially competitive engineered proposals and tender responses. This role also supports project execution activities, working closely with both the National Sales Manager and Engineered Projects Manager – Power Generation.


About the Role

As a key member of our Power Generation team, you will:

  • Lead the preparation of engineering tender responses and technical submissions.
  • Provide technical support to Business Development Managers and Sales teams.
  • Assist in project engineering, supplier management, and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and contribute to process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Tender & Proposal Management

  • Analyse RFQs and tenders for feasibility and compliance.
  • Interpret technical specifications and develop project costing sheets.
  • Source and negotiate with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Prepare formal offers and support post-submission technical queries.

Project Execution Support

  • Assist with engineering design, equipment selection, and documentation.
  • Liaise with OEMs and suppliers to ensure timely delivery and specification compliance.
  • Support the development of Quality Plans, ITPs, commissioning procedures, and schedules.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work cross-functionally with Sales, Engineering Services, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships and contribute to milestone management.

What You'll Bring

  • Strong knowledge of power generation products and ancillary systems.
  • Excellent costing, estimation, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Word.
  • Commercial acumen and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience in supplier communications and negotiations.
