Molding Process Engineer

Responsible for leading the development, optimization, and troubleshooting of injection molding processes to meet performance, quality, and cost objectives. This role involves managing new and existing mold sampling and validation, providing technical expertise, and driving continuous improvement activities. Comply with the relevant regulatory and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities, Qualifications and Skills :

1. Project & Quality Management

  • In depth knowledge in transfer & compression mold applications & process
  • Involve in new and transfer project qualification activities.
  • Troubleshoot, innovative solutions and perform risk assessments and make disposition decisions for abnormal or on-hold lots prior to shipment
  • Prepare Inspection Instructions, First Article Inspection (FAI), Capability Study, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and PPAP documentation.
  • Handle Engineering Change Orders (ECO), coordinate purging activities, and monitor documentation revisions.
  • Compile quality reports and lead internal and customer quality review meetings.
  • Handle customer complaints, conduct failure analysis, and follow up on corrective/preventive actions.

2. Molding Process & Optimization

  • Approve systematic process development on both new and existing molds.
  • With understanding of sub-mold processes like pre-mold plasma & post mold cure requirements
  • Demonstrate knowledge on cause,effect, phenomena & hypothesis of mold related defects, understand the IPQC requirements of SAT/CSAM/Wire Sweep checks
  • Ensure optimal setup of mold, material, machine, and equipment to meet specification and performance.
  • Evaluate mold and material trial performance; support troubleshooting and process improvements.
  • Train technicians and inspectors to ensure consistent understanding across molding processes.

3. Reliability & Risk Assessment

  • Perform reliability assessments and define qualification requirements.
  • Conduct failure and risk analysis related to manufacturing and reliability concerns.
  • Predict product life performance through reliability analysis and statistical methods.

4. Supplier & Audit Coordination

  • Oversee supplier quality management and coordinate sorting/rework/RMA activities.
  • Responsible for customer process audits, NPI qualification audits, and system audits.

5. Qualifications & Skills

  • Above 3 years of experience with Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology (Mechanical / Manufacturing Technology).
  • Strong proficiency in Mandarin speaking (Chinese Literate) - To deal with Taiwanese customer.
  • Proficient in Minitab, 8D report writing, and quality tools (PPAP, FAI, CPK, MSA, FMEA, Control Plan).
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 13485, IATF 16949 standards.
  • Understanding of GD&T and CMM measurement methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 13485, IATF 16949 standards.
  • Hands-on experience with molding processes and reliability test equipment (e.g., UV Test Chamber, Thermal Chambers, Abrasion Testers).
