Application Engineer (Thermal)

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thermal analysis and simulations of semiconductor devices and packaging using tools such as ANSYS Icepak, COMSOL, or Flotherm.
  • Assess and select suitable Thermal Interface Materials (TIMs) to achieve optimal thermal performance.
  • Design and perform experiments to evaluate thermal resistance, bond-line thickness, and material degradation under thermal cycling and aging conditions.
  • Collaborate with Production, R&D, and Material Science teams to develop and enhance new TIM formulations and solutions.
  • Provide technical support to production teams and external customers on TIM applications, reliability concerns, and thermal performance troubleshooting.
  • Prepare and maintain application guidelines, datasheets, and technical documentation to promote best practices in TIM usage.
  • Work closely with manufacturing and process engineering teams to ensure consistent and reliable integration of TIMs in production processes.
  • Assist in customer qualification activities and contribute to root cause analysis for thermal performance issues or failures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Thermal Engineering...
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in thermal management, heat transfer, or thermal interface materials.
  • Solid understanding of thermal analysis principles, simulation techniques, and testing methodologies.
  • Proficient in using thermal analysis and simulation tools such as ANSYS, COMSOL, or equivalent software
  • Be willing to travel regionally or internationally for client support, testing, or project implementation.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations related to thermal management.
