National Business Development Manager – Transport

Position Summary

Responsible for growing the Group's transport, distribution, and warehousing-related businesses nationwide. The role focuses on acquiring new customers, developing integrated transport–distribution solutions, managing key accounts, and working closely with Operations to deliver end-to-end service excellence. This position is key in driving revenue growth, expanding market presence, and strengthening the Company's competitiveness in the logistics industry.


Business Development & Market Expansion

  • Develop and execute national business development plans to achieve revenue and volume growth. Identify new markets and customer opportunities across key sectors (FMCG, Retail, E-commerce, Manufacturing, etc.).
  • Lead tender submissions, solution proposals, pricing strategies, and customer presentations.

Integrated Transport & Distribution Solutions

  • Work with Operations to design end-to-end transport and distribution solutions.
  • Ensure solutions cover first mile, mid mile, last mile and nationwide fleet deployment.  Integrate warehousing services such as storage, picking, and VAS where required.
  • Ensure all proposed solutions are competitive, feasible, and cost-effective.

Key Account Management

  • Manage and grow national key accounts to increase business share.
  • Build long-term customer relationships through strong SLAs and continual improvement.
  • Address service issues promptly to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.

Commercial & Financial Management

  • Conduct costing, rate simulation, and margin analysis for proposals.
  • Review customer profitability and ensure commercial terms meet company objectives. Support pricing governance, revenue forecasts, and risk assessments.

Industry, Market & Competitor Insights

  • Keep abreast of logistics industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes. Benchmark best practices to enhance competitiveness and innovation.

People Leadership

  • Lead and coach regional BD teams across Peninsular Malaysia.
  • Guide the team on sales strategies, solution selling, negotiation, and customer management.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Transport, Distribution, Warehouse, Finance, HSE, and Customer Service to support customer requirements.
  • Assist in the smooth transition and onboarding of new customers.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • 6–8 years' experience in Transport/Distribution Business Development, with a minimum 5 years at managerial level.
  • Proven success in winning and managing national-level logistics accounts.
  • Strong experience in pricing, costing, solution design, and financial analysis.
  • Knowledge of integrated logistics, transport routing, fleet deployment, and distribution operations.

  • Ability to design end-to-end supply chain solutions.

  • Strong presentation, proposal writing, and client negotiation capabilities.

  • Effective communicator with strong influencing skills.

  • Strong leadership presence and team management ability.
