Job Overview

The Facilities & Maintenance Officer ensures a safe, clean, and well-functioning school campus. This role manages building maintenance, school infrastructure, safety compliance, vendor coordination, and support for school events to provide a secure and conducive environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

1. Facilities Maintenance & Repairs

2. Oversee daily inspection and maintenance of school facilities including classrooms, offices, labs, toilets, lighting, ACs and all school equipments

3. Oversee and supervise school cleaners to maintain a safe, clean, and orderly environment for students and staff.
4. Conduct minor repairs and coordinate external contractors for major works
5. Ensure maintenance is scheduled and completed on time (electrical, plumbing, etc.)

6. Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and school departments

7. Safety, Security & Compliance

8. Ensure the school meets health, safety, and fire compliance requirements

9. Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments on school facilities
10. Maintain and monitor safety equipment (fire extinguishers, alarms, first-aid kits, emergency lighting, CCTV, etc.)
11. Assist with emergency procedures, drills, and evacuation planning

12. Ensure all school areas are safe and hazard-free

13. Vendor & Contractor Management

14. Source quotations, schedule servicing, and supervise contractors on site

15. Ensure works are completed to safety and quality standards

16. Maintain records of service agreements and warranty schedules

17. School Operations & Event Support

18. Prepare venues, seating, audio-visual and logistics for school events, assemblies, meetings, and other related activities

19. Support setup for exam halls, parent events, school celebrations, and external activities

20. Work with Academic and Administration teams to ensure operational needs are met

21. Asset & Inventory Management

22. Maintain records of school assets, furniture, and maintenance tools

23. Monitor stock of supplies (light bulbs, locks, spare parts, etc.) and coordinate procurement

24. Administrative & Reporting

25. Maintain maintenance logs, incident reports, inspection checklists, and service records

26. Provide regular updates and reports to management
27. Assist in budgeting and tracking expenses related to facilities and maintenance

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education

• Diploma in Facilities Management, Engineering, Building Maintenance or related field (preferred but not mandatory with relevant experience)

Experience

• Minimum 2 years in facilities maintenance, building management, or similar role
• Experience in a school environment is an advantage
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, air-conditioning, and general repairs
• Familiarity with safety and regulatory compliance for school facilities
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, maintenance tracking)
• Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Calm and reliable in handling emergencies
• Child-safe mindset with professional conduct around students
• Physically fit to perform regular site inspections and minor maintenance tasks
• Willing to work occasional evenings or weekends for school events or urgent matters
• Ability to respond to on-site emergencies when required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM2, RM3,000.00 per month
