Company Overview
Flashpoint is a Science Enrichment centre for kids to explore the 'how' and 'why' of Science through contextualised lessons and hands-on experiments. Our founder is Bryan Yong, a graduate of the University of Cambridge with a Master's in Mechanical Engineering. Bryan has 12 years in Education, and has separately grown/scaled and exited other industries. Now, he's decided to dedicate his full life and focus to enriching the experience of STEM for kids through life-long memorable experiments.
As we continue to grow, we are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team and help us deliver an exceptional education. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
Role Overview
The Teaching Assistant will play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of our Science Centre, supporting the lead teacher in preparing lesson materials, building and facilitating experiments, and general business admin tasks required. This role is perfect for someone for either someone passionate in education/science, or for someone driven and hungry to learn about what it takes to build, maintain, and scale a business.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of lesson materials. Typically, compiling and standardising information/content from a wide variety of sources and having a consistent theme across lesson plans, worksheets, and summaries.
- Build, set up, and maintain experiments, ensuring they are safe, functional, and engaging for students.
- Assisting in the class occasionally as necessary, when experiments require more teacher support (i.e. with scissors) or with distributing lesson materials and books out.
- Collaborate with the lead teacher to continuously improve lesson plans and the overall educational experience.
What Good Looks Like
- Lesson materials are prepared ahead of time, with all necessary resources available and in excellent condition.
- Experiments are set up accurately, safely, and efficiently, enhancing the learning experience.
- Students are engaged, focused, and enthusiastic about their lessons, with any disruptions managed effectively and professionally.
- The Teaching Assistant demonstrates a proactive approach, anticipating the needs of both students and the lead teacher, contributing to a seamless and enriching educational experience.
