Position Overview

The Financial Controller (Southern Malaysia) will oversee the financial management, reporting, and control activities across three key locations — Muar, Malacca, and Johor Bahru. This role is critical in ensuring financial discipline, compliance, and operational efficiency at the regional level while supporting group-wide finance strategies.

The incumbent will act as a strategic partner to operations and management teams, providing financial insights, strengthening internal controls, and driving continuous improvement in financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Oversee full spectrum of finance and accounting functions for the Southern region.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting in compliance with MFRS and group policies.
  • Consolidate financial performance across Muar, Malacca, and Johor Bahru for reporting to Group CFO.
  • Monitor cash flow, working capital, and cost structures to support sustainable operations.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis

  • Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecasts for Southern region entities.
  • Provide variance analysis and recommend corrective actions.
  • Partner with operational leaders to deliver actionable financial insights and drive profitability improvements.

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Strengthen internal control framework across all 3 sites.
  • Ensure adherence to group policies, statutory regulations, and audit requirements.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax agents, and regulatory authorities.

Business Partnering

  • Work closely with plant managers and functional heads to support business decisions.
  • Provide financial leadership in new initiatives, investments, and cost optimization projects.
  • Collaborate with Group Financial Controller (Penang) to align reporting standards and best practices across the group.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop finance teams across Southern Malaysia.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance.
  • Ensure succession planning and talent development for finance functions.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Professional qualifications (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, ICAEW) preferred.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in manufacturing/EMS environments.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards (MFRS/IFRS), taxation, and compliance.
  • Proven experience in multi-site financial management.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Hands-on, proactive, and able to operate in a fast-paced environment.
