Job Summary

  • Work closely with the External Communications team to develop and deliver content aligned with the company's messaging strategy.
  • Demonstrate a high level of fluency in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin, both written and spoken. Maintain an open and approachable communication style to collaborate effectively across departments and with media partners.
  • Conduct presentations and work as part of a cross-functional team comprising members from both the External and Internal Communications sections within Group Corporate Communications. Assist in the execution of all departmental deliverables.
  • Build and maintain relationships with relevant media representatives for company events, pursue story opportunities, and update the media contact list regularly.
  • Support cross-department initiatives such as product launches and media previews in collaboration with the Marketing team and PRONET.
  • Ensure all communication materials — including press releases, photos, and related content — are accurate, properly reviewed, and visually appealing before being distributed to the media.

Job Description

  • Manage day-to-day communications activities including drafting press releases, responding to media inquiries, preparing FAQs for PROTON management interviews, and developing holding statements for crisis communication.
  • Monitor PR value and ensure timely delivery of all communication tasks, including posting approved content on LinkedIn and the PROTON Link App 2.0 after media releases.
  • Provide interpretation support in Mandarin and Bahasa Malaysia during media interactions, and perform emcee duties in Mandarin when required.
  • Collaborate closely with team members on internal and external communications projects to achieve departmental KPIs and maximize the impact of Group Corporate Communications initiatives.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with mainstream and specialized media to achieve PROTON's external messaging objectives in a cost-effective manner.
  • Work with the External Communications team to develop presentation decks and reports that keep senior management informed of upcoming events and communication activities.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform effectively under pressure without compromising quality, while maintaining strong attention to detail and acting as a dependable problem-solver.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Management/Statistic/Marketing/Data Science or related field.
  • Possesses at least 5–8 years of relevant experience in corporate communications, public relations or media relations.
  • Proven experience in managing external communications and media engagement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin.
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of data cleaning, validation and experience in gathering data from multiple sources to support communications planning.
  • Proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools using Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to interpret communication and media data to derive insights that support business strategy and decision-making.
