About the job

We are looking for a Lower and Middle Secondary Teacher who has the heart and motivation to serve the underprivileged community through the work at Dignity for Children Foundation. You will be teaching in a non-profit school environment and working closely with students, parents, and fellow educators to create a holistic and nurturing learning experience.

The teacher is expected to be a positive mentor to youth and responsible for delivering holistic lessons that support both academic and personal development. The teacher role is expected to communicate with parents of their students in terms of education as well as the occasional welfare matters, while creating and maintaining a safe learning space for their class.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Be a mentor to youth and participate as a positive role model to build and nurture character in underprivileged youth
  2. Well versed with IGCSE English education syllabus
  3. Perform pastoral duties including student support, counselling students with academic development and providing student encouragement
  4. Participate in education camps and workshops conducted to build character
  5. Manage students' behavior and apply appropriate and effective behavior measures
  6. Plan, prepare and deliver interactive lesson plans to all students effectively (including online classes as needed)
  7. Participate in the development, administration, and marking of exam papers and other assessments
  8. Monitor, evaluate, record and report on the academic progress, development, and behavior of one's students and creating reports to inform parents about their progress.
  9. Participate actively in school activities and program which includes Dignity events
  10. Attend professional development courses and workshops organized by Dignity
  11. Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Education/Skills Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field
  2. Teaching certifications and experience in teaching or leadership will be advantageous
  3. Has some experience in program development, curriculum writing and research skills
  4. Possesses strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create productive and healthy relationships
  5. Ability to collaborate and work with teams
  6. Ability to work independently

Technical Competency Requirements:

  1. Knowledge and familiarity in usage of Google Classroom is required
  2. Computer competency, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Physical Requirements / Work Environment:

  1. Work is normally performed in a typical school/office environment
  2. Travel will be required when participating in youth workshops or camps outstation
  3. Must be comfortable to participate in outdoor activities as required by education programs
