Job Summary:

The BO Chargeman 11kV is responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and repair of high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) electrical systems, including 11kV switchgear, transformers, generators, and related electrical installations in the mall. This role ensures all electrical systems operate efficiently and comply with Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Commission) regulations, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous operation of mall facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate, maintain, and supervise the mall's 11kV high voltage systems, including transformers, switchgear, and distribution panels.
  • Ensure compliance with the Electricity Supply Act 1990, Electricity Regulations 1994, and Energy Commission (ST) requirements.
  • Conduct daily inspection and monitoring of electrical systems to ensure all installations are functioning safely and efficiently.
  • Plan and carry out preventive and corrective maintenance for all electrical equipment, including HV/LV panels, lighting systems, gensets, and UPS systems.
  • Troubleshoot and rectify electrical faults or breakdowns to minimize operational downtime.
  • Perform switching operations and isolation procedures for maintenance or emergencies according to standard operating procedures.
  • Supervise and monitor contractors performing electrical installation, testing, and maintenance work.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of all electrical inspections, maintenance activities, and statutory compliance documentation.
  • Ensure all electrical installations and equipment comply with statutory inspection and testing requirements by authorized bodies.
  • Support and coordinate maintenance of other M&E systems, including chillers, HVAC, lifts, escalators, and fire alarm systems.
  • Implement and promote energy-saving initiatives and efficient power usage across the mall.
  • Respond promptly to electrical emergencies, system alarms, and power failures to restore services safely.
  • Ensure the workplace adheres to all Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) requirements.
  • Conduct training and supervision of junior technicians and maintenance staff.
  • Be on standby and attend to emergency calls as required, including after office hours, weekends, or public holidays.

Requirements:

  • Possess a valid Chargeman BO (11kV) Certificate issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Commission).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience handling high voltage (11kV) electrical systems, preferably in large commercial buildings, shopping malls, or industrial facilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of high voltage operations, switchgear maintenance, and electrical protection systems.
  • Familiar with Building Management System (BMS), Generator Synchronizing System, and Preventive Maintenance Programs.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Good leadership skills with the ability to guide and supervise maintenance teams and contractors.
  • Able to read and interpret electrical single-line diagrams and technical drawings.
  • Physically fit and willing to perform shift duties and standby rotations.
  • Good communication and report-writing skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
