Automation Engineer – Ignition SCADA

DJ Engineering Service Resource is seeking a skilled Automation Engineer (Ignition SCADA) to join our engineering team. You'll design, develop, and commission industrial automation systems using Ignition for manufacturing and process industries across the ASEAN region.

In this role, you'll architect and integrate SCADA, MES, and IIoT systems — from control system design to implementation. You'll work with advanced technologies, combining PLCs, databases, and modern network architectures to deliver high-performance, secure automation solutions.

We're looking for a self-motivated engineer with strong problem-solving skills and a passion for industrial digitalization. This is an excellent opportunity to expand your technical expertise in Ignition while working on regional and global automation projects.

Overview

Design and deliver Ignition SCADA systems for industrial manufacturing. Manage full project life cycles — from control system design and integration to testing, deployment, and commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement Ignition SCADA systems to meet project requirements.
  • Develop and test automation and integration solutions for MES, IIoT, and PLC systems.
  • Conduct system analysis, specification, and documentation for project deliverables.
  • Develop test plans and protocols to evaluate system performance and functionality.
  • Lead system conversion, upgrade, and data migration initiatives.
  • Coordinate application upgrades and ensure compliance with development standards.
  • Build and maintain integrations between Ignition, MES, ERP, and PLC systems.
  • Provide training and support for internal teams and customer personnel.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and process standardization efforts.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience developing Ignition-based automation systems.
  • Ignition Core and Gold Certification preferred.
  • Proven experience with HMI, MES, and SCADA systems on the Ignition platform.
  • Experience with network architecture design, both on-premises and cloud.
  • Proficient with OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT, and related communication protocols.
  • Experience integrating Ignition with MES and ERP systems (SAP a plus).
  • Skilled in Ignition Perspective for developing process graphics and user interfaces.
  • Knowledge of XML, JSON, SOAP, RESTful APIs, and web services integration.
  • Experience integrating SCADA with Siemens PLCs or equivalent industrial control systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and analytical skills.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
  • Willingness to travel within ASEAN, Western Europe, and North America for projects or training.
