2.   Scope

The officer shall be a member of the staff of the Kulliyyah/Centre/Department to which he is assigned by the IIUM and the officer shall perform teaching, examining, and research duties and such other obligations as are normally required of an academic staff member of the IIUM.

The officer should also undertake moral and religious obligations in relation to his colleagues and students as part and parcel of his duties as a member of the academic staff of IIUM.

The officer shall attend meetings of IIUM Authorities, Boards and Committees to which he, being an academic staff member, may be appointed as a member by virtue of the IIUM Constitution or any Statutes or Acts, or of any administrative actions of the Rector, Dean or Head of the Kulliyyah/Centre/ Department.

The officer is also expected to participate in the general life of the IIUM community.

The officer is also expected to advise and guide students in relation to their character, behaviour and moral conduct. In short, he is not only a teacher (Mu'allim), a scholar ('Alim) but also a moral educator (Murabbi).

.   Key Responsibilities

a. 
Assist in teaching undergraduate students in
Pathology and related laboratory medicine subjects.

b. 
Conduct tutorials, practical sessions, and
student supervision under senior guidance.

c.  
Support preparation of teaching materials,
assessments, and learning resources.

d. 
Participate in departmental and collaborative
research activities.

e. 
Assist in data collection, analysis, and
preparation of research reports or publications.

f.   
Observe and assist in routine laboratory
diagnostic and quality assurance activities.

g. 
Support compliance with ISO 15189, biosafety,
and good laboratory practices.

h. 
Contribute to departmental administration,
meetings, and academic events.

i.   
Participate in professional and continuous
development programmes (CME, workshops, etc.).

j.

Uphold IIUM values of professionalism, ethics,
and adab in all academic and clinical duties.

4.   Minimum Qualifications

Possess a Basic Degree in M.B.B.S / M.D. in a
relevant field from a university recognized by the GovernmentRegistered with the Malaysian Medical Council
and having experience in the relevant area.

5.  Minimum Competencies

  • Able to assist in teaching, tutorials, and basic research activities.

  • Flexibility, resilience, and willingness to work long hours

  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, written and verbal communication

skills

  • Demonstrates integrity, teamwork, and commitment to IIUM's Islamic

values and continuous learning.

Language Qualifications

All candidates must have obtained:-

a.  Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English Language (including oral examination) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level OR equivalent qualification recognized by the Government (for Malaysian citizens).b.  IELTS Band 6 / MUET Band 4.  Candidate without any of these qualification will be required to sit for the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
