Job Purpose
To plan and monitor for underwriting and risk selection activities towards enhance portfolio growth and profitability and ensuring compliance to stipulated guidelines and regulation to ensure the objective is met
Job Responsibilities
You will be responsible to collaborate and synergise with Sales to make accurate and sound underwriting decisions that achieve the budgeted Gross Written Premium for the Commercial Underwriting team.
You will manage the portfolio to ensure profitability of the budgeted combined ratio, loss ratio for Fire Insurance
You will executing overall company's underwriting direction based on current market condition/ experience to ensure profitability.
You will review of renewal and provide recommendations to improve underwriting results.
You will ensure all documentation related to the risks are made available i.e. adequate underwriting information, claims experience to enable proper underwriting of the risks with correct rating and terms.
You will review claims history for new and renewal risk to ensure adequate premium and terms apply
You will advise Reinsurance/ Treaty Dept for renewal risks that have treaty referral/ facultative one month before expiry date to improve turnaround time for confirmation of renewal.
You will monitor and advise Business Channel on un-processed documents for secured risks and renewals.
You will provide good turnaround of documents issuance (policy and endorsements) to branches, marketers, intermediaries (agents and brokers), customers and coinsurers.
Job Requirements
You must possess a bachelor's degree in actuarial science or in data science or in insurance or its equivalent.
You must have at least 5-7 years of working experience in an underwriting role in a General insurance industry. Having prior experience in fire or enterprise corporate channels, etc.
Having prior experience as an actuarial professional who is seeking for an underwriting role are encouraged to apply.
You must have good proficiency in Microsoft Excel, VBA, or SQL
You must have good interpersonal & analytical skills to collaborate with our internal stakeholders within and other divisions in Etiqa to strengthen and foster seamless business analytics that values add to the sales channels.
You must be detailed oriented, demonstrate a strong business acumen, independent, self-starter and proactive to enable further success in this role.
