We are seeking an experienced and proactive Environmental Engineer to oversee and manage all environmental aspects of our construction projects. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with environmental laws and standards, implementing mitigation measures, and driving sustainable site practices from pre-construction to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Environmental Management Plans (EMP) tailored for construction projects.
- Ensure full compliance with environmental regulations (EQA 1974, DOE guidelines, etc.) and project-specific environmental conditions.
- Coordinate and conduct Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) as required.
- Monitor and control environmental parameters at construction sites, including dust, noise, vibration, water runoff, and scheduled waste.
- Liaise with the Department of Environment (DOE), local authorities, and third-party consultants.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and compliance reporting; address non-conformities effectively.
- Manage environmental documentation, licenses, and reporting timelines.
- Provide technical input during planning and construction phases to minimize environmental impact.
- Conduct environmental briefings and training sessions for site staff and subcontractors.
- Supervise junior environmental personnel and ensure continuous improvement on-site.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree any related Engineering field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in the construction industry managing environmental compliance.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian construction-related environmental legislation and permit requirements.
- Proven experience in managing construction site issues like erosion control, sedimentation, noise, and waste.
- Familiar with ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
- Strong communication and leadership skills; able to coordinate with site teams, consultants, and authorities.
- DOE registration or EIA Consultant status is an advantage.
- Registered as Environmental Auditor is an advantage.
- Able to run noise and vibration modelling or others modelling (if any).
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Willing to work on-site and travel as required.
- Perform any ad-hoc task requested by Director.
