What you'll be doing?
  • Manage customs declaration: Oversee the entire customs declaration process, including preparing and submitting necessary documentation, classifying goods according to customs codes, and ensuring appropriate licenses and permits are obtained.
  • Lead the team: Supervise the customs declaration team, ensuring timely and accurate submission of all required documentation.
  • Resolve customs issues: Provide leadership in resolving customs-related issues or disputes promptly to prevent shipment delays.
  • Liaise with authorities: Maintain effective communication with customs authorities and other relevant government agencies to ensure compliance with all local and international customs regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements.
  • Stay updated: Familiarize yourself with declaration systems and customs regulations in the Automotive Industry, and stay updated with industry trends and regulations.
  • Collaborate with logistics: Work closely with the logistics team to ensure the seamless integration of customs clearance with the overall freight forwarding operations.
  • Monitor performance: Monitor and report on the performance of the customs declaration process, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Implement best practices: Implement best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for customs operations and documentation control.
Who are they looking for?
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar forwarding manager or customs declaration role within the freight/cargo forwarding industry.
  • Valid Certificate: Shall possess a valid CUSTOMS AGENT COURSE Certificate (KEK).
  • Customs knowledge: Thorough understanding of customs regulations, policies, and procedures, particularly in the Malaysian context in the Automotive Industry.
  • Problem-solving: Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments.
  • Communication skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with customs authorities, clients, and internal stakeholders.
  • Language proficiency: Proficiency in Mandarin, English, and Bahasa Malaysia to liaise with Mandarin-speaking clients and partners.
  • Team player: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
