Purpose of Role

The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing and controlling costs, contracts and financials of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

Some typical duties include:

  • Perform quantity take-offs from drawings (architectural, structural, services) and prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ) or similar.
  • Prepare cost estimates, rate build-ups (material, labour, plant) and cost plans for projects in pre-contract stage.
  • Participate in tendering: prepare tender documentation, call for quotations, evaluate tenders, recommend awards.
  • Administer contracts and sub-contracts: monitor and control financial aspects, evaluate variation orders (VOs) and claims, prepare interim progress valuations and final accounts.
  • Monitor actual costs against budget, provide cost reports and forecasts, advise on cost-control/efficiency measures.
  • Maintain proper records, documentation filing for contracts, valuations, claims and correspondence.
  • Liaise with project team (site, procurement, engineering, clients/consultants) to ensure cost-related issues are tracked, variations identified early, contractual obligations met.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant contract standards, company policies, site safety/health/environment standards (where required).
  • Support final account close-out, lessons learnt, post-project review (depending on organisation).

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: RM3, RM4,500.00 per month
