About the role

Mewah Group, a leading global integrated agribusiness and consumer product group, is seeking an Assistant Manager (Group Tax) to join its team based in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia. This is a full-time position that will play a crucial role in supporting the company's tax strategy and compliance efforts.

What you'll be doing

  • Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns and related documentation for the group's entities
  • Support the review and analysis of tax implications for various business transactions and initiatives
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of tax planning strategies to optimize the group's tax position
  • Liaise with local and international tax authorities on tax-related matters
  • Provide technical support and advice to business units on tax-related issues
  • Participate in tax audits and investigations, and manage the resolution of any tax disputes
  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations, and advise the business accordingly
  • Assist in the preparation of tax-related reports and presentations for management

What we're looking for

  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in tax compliance and advisory roles, preferably within a large, complex organization
  • Strong technical knowledge of corporate tax regulations and practices, both locally and internationally
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply tax laws and regulations
  • Proficient in using tax software and other relevant technology tools
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • A proactive and detail-oriented approach, with a strong commitment to accuracy and compliance
