Scope of Work
• Responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting.
• Responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
• Responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and support the budget and forecast activities.
• Report to and work closely with the Chief Financial Officer ("CFO") and others in the organization in analysis and reconciliation of accounts and in development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures and controls.

Job Summary
  • Managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department
  • Monitoring and analysing accounting data and produce financial reports
  • Establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies and principles.
Principle Duties / Responsibilities
• Manage the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations and report preparation.
• Interacts at all levels and with budget owners or other stakeholders to produce timely, efficient and accurate month-end close.
• Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
• Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
• Prepare summary feedback of financial statements variances to budget.
• Coordinate and complete annual audits
• Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
• Coordinate the preparation of financial statements and year-end financial report on Annual Report
• Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes.
• Continued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices
• Participate in strategic financial projects including upgrades/phase-two implementation of ERP software.
• Responsible for hierarchy in chart of accounts and accuracy in the general ledger and financial statements and has ultimate authority over classification and booking of all transactions
• Analyse the effect of statutory accounting practices and studies regulations and guidance to ensure correct application of Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards ("MFRS).
• Make recommendations for changes as needed and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed and establishes the proper techniques to discover and prevent fraud.
• Supports budget and forecasting activities.
• Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
• Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.
• Support CFO and other Managers with special projects and workflow process improvements.
• To perform any other duties as assigned by the Management.

Skills
  • Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software ("Microsoft Dynamics") and databases
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to direct and supervise

Qualifications
• Bachelor in Accountancy and/or Finance
• Professional qualifications in related field (e.g. ACCA, ICAEW)

Experiences
  • 10 years of prior supervisory experience in the financial reporting/accounting position
  • Prior audit experience in an audit firm
  • MIA membership will be preferred
Personal Characteristics
• Good computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Word.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills required.
• Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
• Excellent communications skills required
