JOB DESCRIPTION

1. SUMMARY OF FUNCTION

  • To assist the Propulsion Workshop Assistant Engineer in the execution of handson MRO Level 4 Depot Workshop activities/ tasks, such as assembly, disassembly, cleaning, inspection, troubleshooting, parts requisitioning, repair, and testing on the test bench.

2. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY

Overall duties/ responsibilities:

1 Leading and supervising the efforts of an MRO Level 4 workshop team in assurance that all activities are completed in accordance with the team's goals and timelines, while also ensuring:

All tasks/ works are done in a safe and professional manner;
All maintenance entries on maintenance job card and work orders are properly executed;
Maintenance tasks include disassembly, cleaning, inspection, troubleshooting, parts requisitioning, repair, assembly, and testing are done precisely;
Proper tooling and equipment are utilized, calibrated, and in good working order for the maintenance task being accomplished;
Collaborating with other team as well to ensure that activities are completed on time.

2 To keep accurate records of all activities for the maintenance line, including inventory and spare part management to ensure:

Proper tooling/ equipment and correct parts are provided;
Works done according to maintenance manuals and other repair specifications;
No defective, non-conformed, or unworthy parts are installed in any component or assembly

2.1.3 Trouble shooting and work processes enhancement;
Identifies problems and recommends solutions to Team Leader/ Superior;
Track every process to prevent errors and omissions;
Always working together with the other teams/supervisors for ongoing improvements and better implementation strategies;

4 Training and supervising new staff and intern through providing them with:

A specific job description;
All the resources he/she needs to get the job done;
Ongoing learning environment/opportunities;
Keeps record of each and every trainee/ intern.

Workshop setup, preparation, and work processes:
Assisting Propulsion Workshop Assistant Engineer in preparation and executing work processes in maintenance line based on job card and manuals;
Ascertain that the assigned maintenance line has appropriate parts, supplies, and tooling and to report back any inconsistencies or shortage;
To provide continuous feedback and troubleshooting steps to Assistant Engineer/ Engineer to fix the problems/ processes in maintenance line;
Collect data associated with the new process to see if it shows improvement and assist Assistant Engineer/ Engineer in analyzing it,
Suggest process improvements regularly.

Depot Workshop/ Workplace housekeeping:
Keep the depot/ workshop looking clean and organized;
Maintain and implement work standards and procedures for maintenance line housekeeping;
Enforce good housekeeping practices with respect to the parts area and the timely processing of parts disposition.

Staffing:
Assist Propulsion Workshop Assistant Engineer to oversee staff activity and performance;
Keep track record of each and every staff under supervision and assist in their performance annual evaluation.

Treat supervisors/ peers respectfully;
Always focus on task and instruction from supervisor/ superior.

Health and Safety in workplace:
To lead and perform toolbox briefing to maintenance line team without fail;
To corporate and working close with safety officer pertaining safety and health in work place;
Promote and maintain a safe work environment in accordance with all company Safety Procedures;
Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.

To carry out any other duties/ tasks assigned whenever necessary.

3. QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
3.1
Mandatory requirements
Certificate of any Engineering discipline from any recognized University;
Familiar with railways operational and engineering terms;
Deep technical understanding and capabilities in bogie structural component design.

3.2
Desirable requirements
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering - with design/ structural specialization;
Independent, positive thinking and able to work as a team.

4. COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
4.1 Familiar with railways depot environment;
4.2 Must have exceptional interpersonal skills to interface effectively with cross functional teams;
4.3 Must have at least basic computer skills and knowledge of common programs such as Microsoft Office;
