Position Summary:

  • This position is responsible for the control of cargo operations and dangerous goods management as per regulatory requirement (CAAM) for Dangerous Goods Coordinator (CAD 18 para

Key Accountability:

  • Accountable to the Head of Ground Operations in ensuring that cargo operations activities are conducted in a safe and secure manner in accordance with applicable regulations and standards of the company.
  • Make decisions with regard to risk tolerability related to the safety and/or security of cargo and dangerous goods handling.
  • Plan, strategize and be responsible for ensuring Firefly cargo operations are conducted in accordance with relevant regulatory and Firefly requirements and Firefly security, safety and operational standards.
  • Plan, strategize and be responsible for outsourced cargo handling service at all Firefly stations by ensuring cargo operations that are conducted by the outsourced party are in accordance with relevant regulatory and Firefly security, safety and operational standards.
  • To manage the cargo operations at all stations by evaluating and appointing suitable service providers.
  • To coordinate with related departments on the security arrangement in all cargo stations.
  • Ensure all payments and receivables are monitored and managed in accordance with Malaysia Aviation Group policies.
  • Represent the company at local authority meetings when required (e.g. airport authority, civil aviation authority and local government bodies).
  • Market and develop a good working relationship with corporate clients/agents to meet company/station targets.
  • To review the cargo manual once a year in accordance with regulations.
  • Establish Firefly dangerous goods procedures and policies related to handling, training and reporting consistent with regulatory, company and industry regulations.
  • Responsibilities for the competency of both security and nonsecurity staff which involve dangerous goods training.
  • Assess the safety standards for an acceptable level of control of the radiation, criticality and thermal hazards to persons, property and the environment that are associated with the transport of dangerous goods.
  • Manage, develop and implement standards and procedures in accordance with foreign regulatory requirements (dangerous goods permit) to ensure that all required State approvals are obtained in a timely manner to protect the schedule integrity of the airline.
  • Manage, develop and implement dangerous goods standards and procedures in compliance with safety, quality and security requirements.
  • Review, publish and manage the Dangerous Goods Handling Manual, Dangerous Goods Training Program and other regulatory documents.
  • Analyse, evaluate and provide recommendations with regard to the regulatory requirements changes as required by amendment to all regulatory documentation.

Qualifications & Working Experience:

  • Degree in Aviation or transport related field
  • Minimum of 3 years in a management position related to Ground Operations and Cargo.

Areas of Experience:

  • Management experience in the carriage of air cargo and the transport of Dangerous Goods (DGR)

Personality Traits:

  • Excellent aviation analysis background.
  • Able to make decisions quickly.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent supervisory / management experience in the aviation industry.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of cargo handling systems will be an advantage.
