Responsibilities

  • To provide Shariah research plan to be approved by the SC to be completed within agreed timeline.
  • To ensure appropriate research method to be applied in the study including takyif fiqhi (fiqh adaptation) that details out istinbat al-ahkam and the solid evidence to derive to such ruling (hukm).
  • To perform in-depth research and analysis on Shariah concerns in facilitating the Shariah Committee deliberation and decision.
  • To conduct research and studies on Shariah contracts, issues, and competitive analysis in order to assist Shariah Committee in making decision.
  • To prepare Shariah assessment and view in extracting the main Shariah concerns related to the proposal paper presented to Shariah Committee.
  • To assist in providing takyif fiqhi or Shariah justification for proposal papers presented to EXCO/SC/Board.
  • To undertake the task related to Shariah Committee Meeting – preparation of minutes, compiling Shariah papers, recording the committee deliberation, decision and related information, communicating the requirement and committee decision related to relevant stakeholders.
  • To prepare the monthly SC Chairman report for Board meeting.
  • To provide report on SC's decision tracking with the relevant parties on the progress of the implementation of SC's decision by quarterly.
  • To ensure proper dissemination of decisions or advice of the Shariah committee within the IFI;
  • To manage appointment, reappointment, termination and cessation of Shariah Committee member.
  • To facilitate the remuneration process and allowance payment of Shariah Committee
  • To undertake the Shariah Committee annual assessment for Board endorsement.
  • To assist and facilitate the engagement session between Shariah Committee and Board of Director / Management of the Bank.
  • To provide Shariah strategic engagement and consultancy services in implementing the bank's high-impact strategic initiative.
  • To support the implementation of Halal initiatives of the Bank:
  • Providing Halal advisory with the SME's entrepreneur
  • Supporting the marketing and promotional programme for HalalXcess
  • Facilitating strategic relationship with Halal-related stakeholders e.g. JAKIM, HDC, MAIN,etc

Requirement

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Shariah/Fiqh discipline or other relevant background.
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in managerial Shariah position in related industries, preferably in banking/financial industry.
  • Possess relevant professional qualifications would be an added advantage.
