Job Description

Purpose of the Role:

Responsible for providing support and guidance on safety, health and environmental matters to our staff in our operational data centres and also in our construction sites in compliance with all applicable statutory standards, rules and regulations.

To successfully fill this role, the ideal candidate should maintain good attitude, behaviour, relevant skill, strong writing and communication capabilities and proficient with the requirements of government regulations and technical rules.

The candidate will be based in Malaysia but report directly to the Global EHS Manager.

Responsibilities

This role entails:

  1. Advise management on environmental, safety, and health (ESH) requirements.
  2. Develop, implement and maintain ESH practices in line with applicable laws, company standards, international standards, and customer compliance.
  3. Ensure a safe and healthful workplace for all employees, ensuring compliance with applicable ESH-related laws, rules, regulations, and internal policies.
  4. Manage and improve Occupational Safety, Health, and Environmental matters by controlling, monitoring, enforcing, and coordinating ESH-related tasks.
  5. Liaise with regulatory bodies such as DOSH, DOE, Ministry of Health, BOMBA Department, and other relevant authorities to ensure full legal compliance.
  6. Develop and implement training programs, policies, and procedures to prevent chemical, physical, and biological hazards in the workplace.
  7. Supervise and address inspection findings, proposing solutions to eliminate incidents and hazards in the future.
  8. Serve on the Safety and Health Committee, organizing and maintaining documents, notices, notifications, and minutes related to safety matters.
  9. Investigate and analyze workplace accidents, preparing incident investigation reports and recommending corrective actions.
  10. Raise awareness among all staff about environmental, health, and safety standards in the workplace.
  11. Monitor and inspect equipment and workplaces to ensure proper use of protective equipment and compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  12. Conduct regular site audits and reviews to ensure compliance with all relevant ESH laws and regulations.
  13. Organize and conduct emergency drills and exercises to ensure preparedness for potential incidents.
  14. Lead efforts to monitor environmental compliance, including managing scheduled waste in line with DOE requirements.
  15. Assist the Management Representative in establishing and monitoring ISO 45001:2018 compliance.
  16. Support efforts to establish and maintain compliance with ISO 14001:2015.

Job Requirements

  1. Minimum Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health or other related fields
  2. Environmental related qualifications are beneficial
  3. At least 10-15 years of working experience preferably in Construction or Data Centres or high hazard industry.
  4. Registered Safety & Health Officer with DOSH Malaysia (Green Book)
  5. Experience in the data centre industry is advantageous but not essential.
  6. Good English and Bahasa Malaysia communication skills, both written and verbal.
  7. Proficient computer skills, especially in applications such as Excel, databases, Word, and web-based systems.
  8. Understanding in HSE management system, ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 will be an added advantage.
  9. The job role will involve working day-to-day in our operational facilities or on our construction site.
  10. The job may also from time to time involve travelling to our HQ in Singapore or to other facilities within APAC.
  11. Strong personality with a commanding presence and unwavering commitment to safety, holding others accountable while fostering a culture of responsibility and compliance.
  12. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to successfully conduct trainings, facilitate team meetings, update people on safety-related issues, and provide relevant reports.
  13. Ability to work independently and is self-motivated.
  14. Calm Manner, able to work under pressure.
  15. Good attention to detail.
