We are currently seeking a TS - Senior HVAC Engineer/HVAC Engineer to join our team based in Kuala Lumpur.

Successful candidates would be offered a fixed term of employment.

About The Job

Perform Engineering detailed design on current projects for onshore/offshore projects and to fulfill Departmental needs and support engineering operation within the Company.

  1. DESIGN BASIS, CODE & STANDARD
  • Competent applying the knowledge of design codes, industries standard and practices such as ASHRAE/SMACNA/ISO, etc. and Interpretation of the requirements to meet project requirement.
  • Competent to resolve problems/trouble shoot based on Codes & Standards interpretation.
  • Understand codes limitation, apply with accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Understanding of Clients specification (e.g. PTS, DEP etc.) and provide service which meet contract requirements.
  • Review and raise clarifications on the ITB/Client documents/Contractual documents in case of ambiguity in definition/lack of clarity/lack of reference/areas of doubt etc. based on experience/judgment or the report from Engineers.
  1. KNOWLEDGE OF HVAC EQUIPMENT AND SYSTEM
  • Understanding of HVAC equipment and its overall system used generally in oil and gas/refinery/Industries for onshore and offshore applications, and able to decide on the correct types of equipment for a given process service application.
  • Understanding and Engineering competence in hydraulics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, control system, etc.
  • Able to propose, modify or re-write the custom specification which suit the nature of awarded project (i.e. Conceptual, FEED, Detailed engineering, EPC nature or Proposal).
  • Competent to do the engineering calculation report, such as Heat Load, Duct Pressure Loss, Plumbing hydraulics etc.
  • Competent to provide the guide schematics for detailed drawings by Designer and Drafters. These drawings includes Flow Rates Diagram, Ducting and Instruments Diagram (D&ID), P&IDs and Equipment layout.
  • Competent to participate effectively and independently to resolve any issues related to equipment testing in case of failures/deficiencies/under-performance/discrepancy during shop testing.
  • Competent to provide support by responding to Site queries (STQ) regarding equipment engineering design/equipment installation/Mechanical completion for field acceptance.
  • Competent to explore the most efficient and cost savings options among variety of HVAC system during proposals and/or project execution stage.
  • Competent to review and check the documents prepared by subordinates or peers. At the same time proving the guidance and training to the subordinates.
  1. EQUIPMENT SELECTION
  • Understanding of various types of HVAC equipment, the overall HVAC system and Plumbing system, e.g. Air Cooled Chiller, Water Cooled Chiller, Packaged DX Unit etc. and knowledge of material available in the market for the particular service and equipment, and review of vendor proposes material.
  • Able to identify the correct equipment based on type and sized, from the available catalogs, vendor input and work with vendor for customised system to suit the project requirement.

  • Technical Bid evaluation & recommendation (TBE/TBT)
  • Equipment selection study reports
  • Input to other disciplines deliverables such as layout and utility requirements
  • Weight data and foundation loading input
  • Equipment interface details
  • Equipment list input
  1. VENDOR DATA REVIEW (VDR)
  • Expert review on Vendor Data Review to meet Codes and Standards, Local Regulations, project and disciplines requirements.
  • Competent to interface with other disciplines like piping/stress group, process, civil, electrical, structural and instrumentation.
  • Able to understand interface issues with other disciplines, and resolve any conflict.
  1. SITE SUPERVISION
  • Understanding sub-contractors/installers Shop drawings.
  • Able to anticipate effectively to improve delivery/progress of site work.
  • Review of technical cards for bulk materials.
  • Review and participate of testing and commissioning works. Including proposing on troubleshooting problems that arise during these works.
  1. PERFORM AS HVAC LEAD ENGINEER ROLE
  • Once assigned as a Lead Engineer, able to provide total commitment to meet project values, monitoring of progress for achieve delivery objective, and execute within appropriate resources.
  • To provide pro-activeness, creativity and efficiency in project execution.
  • Coordinate and plan resources for execution of project.
  1. TECHNICAL AUDITS
  • Ability to carry out technical audits at the Department Manager request (For Senior Engineer more than 10 years experience).
  • Able to effectively investigate and resolve any quality complaints or incidents raised by any interested parties, or when requested by Client, or project manager.
  1. OTHERS
  • Good professional judgment, responsive and pro-active in execution of HVAC deliverables to meet project needs, and ability to handle difficult situations arise due to complexities of Projects demand.
  • Produce Quality Engineering deliverables/service, meet and presenting any case to Client satisfaction.
  • Fulfill QA/HSE aspects, with good team-works.
  • Able to supervise, coach and guide young Engineers.
  • The front man for proposals involving HVAC scope.

About you:

The Candidate shall possess a Degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.E. Hons). Possess at least minimum 7 years of engineering design experiences in various HVAC System type for Onshore/Offshore application and Industrial Plant and plumbing system.
  1. Be willing to travel and stationed at various Engineering Operating Centers / Client Office on needs basis (for overseas assignment).
  2. Site experiences (1 to 2 years).
  3. Exhibit and maintain good relationship with Client/Peers/Equipment Vendor & suppliers.
  4. Good Professional Check (feedback) from past Employers/Clients.
