The Specialist Trade Finance EU Payments is responsible for the independent, compliant, and timely handling of Letter of Credit guided by the operating procedures, guidelines, policies, practices, code of conduct, and standards imposed by the Company/Group.

The Specialist Trade Finance EU Payments will be required to approve transactions, if applicable, as per the limit stated in the Individual Delegation of Release Authority Letter.

Possess sound knowledge of latest versions of UCP / ISBP / URR / Incoterms and relevant current updates of Letter of Credit related to ICC publications.

Diligently escalates any lapses in processing / handling to the respective Team Head for close monitoring.

Ensure the productivity targets set are duly met efficiently / accurately and processing turnaround standards are achieved within own area of responsibility.

Ensuring teamwork within the unit/department and organization are closely fostered at any one time.

Observance of the Commerzbank's requirements with respect to Compliance, AML, and Reputational Risk issues (first level check) is indispensable in the daily course of activities.

Key activities:1. Payment Processing
  • Understanding the payment terms stipulated in the Letter of Credit.
  • Ensure accurate and timely execution of transactions in accordance with the Letter of Credit terms and conditions.
  • Review and authenticate the payment instruction by the client against the document presented.
  • Handle payment discrepancies and coordinate with the client for resolution.
2. Swift Processing
  • Prepare, process or release swift messages (i.e.: MT202, MT103, MT742) for payment instruction and interbank communications.
  • Ensure the accurate use of payment reference and transaction details in swift messages.
3. Compliance & Regulation
  • Monitor compliance and regulatory requirements (i.e.: Anti Money Laundering & Know Your Customer procedure).
  • Ensure adherence to the internal policies and international trade finance regulations.
  • Perform reconciliation of payments and maintain accurate records of all transactions.
  • Generate periodic reports on payment activities.
Key Measurable:
  • Achieves the processing turnaround standards as stipulated in the Service Level Agreement between the company and clients.
  • Meeting and/or exceeding the productivity standards and competency in terms of processing efficiency and accuracy output.
  • Support the implementation and initiatives carried out by the Management and Company/Group.
  • Contributing ideas for improvement on processes, workflow, etc.
Formal education:

Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's degree / Post Graduate Diploma / Professional Degree in the industry or equivalent.

Specialist knowledge (work experience, further qualification):
  • At least 2 – 5 years of working experience with Trade Finance Operations.
  • Familiarity with the Trade Finance industry.
  • Proficient use of MS Office.
  • Good command of English and possibly of another foreign language.
