**The Opportunity**
Our partner, a leading medical device supplier in Australia and New Zealand, is seeking a Payroll Officer. In this role, you will assist with the effective preparation, management, and accurate payment of the payroll function for the Device group of companies across Australia, New Zealand, and South East Asia.
You will report directly to a Manager in Australia and collaborate with the onshore team across Australia.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Conducting end-to-end payroll processing for monthly, fortnightly, and weekly Australian payrolls, as well as monthly New Zealand payrolls using SAGE Micropay.
- Managing outsourced monthly and bi-monthly South East Asia payrolls.
- Implementing and processing new starter records and employment changes.
- Processing timesheets and preparing monthly payments for PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax, and child support.
- Performing accurate reconciliation and online submission of monthly superannuation and payroll tax returns.
- Assisting with the reconciliation and submission of annual payroll tax and workers' compensation returns.
- Handling general ledger journals for wages, annual leave liability, and purchased leave liability.
- Processing expense reimbursement payment and reallocation journals.
- Managing Group Salary Continuance and Workers Compensation Insurance payments and queries.
- Maintaining maternity leave processing and processing manual commission payments.
- Assisting with month and year-end processing and reporting
**Skills, Experience & Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
- 4-5 years of experience as a Payroll Officer in a financial business setting.
- Understanding of payroll legislation and processes.
- End-to-end payroll experience in a high-volume environment.
- Experience with SAGE Micropay and SAGE People HRIS is desirable
- Knowledge and experience with inhouse and outsourced payroll solutions.
- Experience with SAP ERP.
- Intermediate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel including VLOOKUP and pivot tables.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
