Key Responsibilities:

- 1. Functional:

- Review and update policies and procedures to comply with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as internal standards and guidelines.
- Drive and facilitate a culture of compliance across the Trade Services.
- Develop and implement a plan for checking the compliance controls.
- Ensure timely reporting and escalation of Compliance issues or incidences to management and Group Compliance
- Working closely with Group Compliance to ensure all relevant new legislation and regulation applicable is implemented in a timely manner.
- Propose/recommend initiatives to revise existing internal processes and/or adopt new processes to comply with new regulatory requirements, where necessary.
- Build a close working relationship with Compliance, Hong Leong Islamic Bank to help ensure compliance with Shariah requirements as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external guidelines that are imposed by the Bank, BNM and/or any other regulatory authority as Business Unit Compliance Officer (BUCR).
- 2. Managerial (team/group responsibilities):

- Drive compliance within legal and regulatory requirements, as well as internal standards and guidelines.
- Guide, mentor and coach Trade Services members/staffs on activities / initiatives to build up knowledge and experience of applicable laws, rules, regulations and guidelines.
- 3. Organizational (organizational responsibilities):

- Assist in demonstrating to divisional management that the bank’s compliance is adequately managed through a robust 1st line of defense.
- Break down “silos”, integrating and streamlining processes across Trade Services to comply with the spirit and rule of legal and regulatory requirements.
- Keep abreast of the latest technologies available and embrace the technology into trade finances AML/CFT processes and mitigation of breaches in sanction/AML screening/monitoring
- Job Requirements:

- Education/Qualification_
- Malaysian citizen.
- Diploma/Bachelor's Degree or equivalent holder.
- 5 years and above related experience in Trade Operations.
- Skills_
- Knowledge of legislative aspects / regulatory requirements of banking and financial institutions and trade products is a key requirement.
- Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, through all levels of the organization.
- Good leadership skills, with the ability to see the big picture without losing attention to details.
