Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer II to join our team at Advanced Energy. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for performing product engineering work on existing production released designs, analyzing and validating design or theoretical concepts, and providing direction and leadership to engineers and engineering technicians.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Review existing production released designs to become an expert knowledge holder of functionality and performance using existing product documentation.
  2. Develop broad technical knowledge of electronic apparatus, components, or circuitry for use in electronic equipment and devices, including DC circuits, AC to DC converters, AC power factor correction, high power transistors and rectifiers, digital and analog loop stability, magnetic design, worst case component analysis, digital hardware, firmware, test and measurement systems, and electrical/safety regulatory compliance.
  3. Diagnose issues of diverse scope with design, field performance, reliability, and manufacturing test yields of existing products using formal investigation methods and recommend/implement corrective actions to address.
  4. Follow key engineering procedures, including the ECO process, Copy Exact, and Product Development Process.
  5. Identify product and process limitations and opportunities for product improvement.
  6. Initiate and manage through to completion engineering changes using the ECO process.
  7. Plan engineering-related activities using project management tools.
  8. Provide direction and leadership to engineers and engineering technicians related to product-specific work.
  9. Communicate professionally, thoroughly, and accurately in written and verbal English communications/presentations while interacting with senior-level professionals both internal and external to AE.
  10. Analyze manufacturing data using statistical methods to monitor manufacturing performance, such as yield performance.
  11. Respond to changing priorities derived from inputs from Product Marketing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Global Support, Supply Chain, Quality, Technical Service Organization, Field Application Engineering, and other stakeholders.
  12. Implement and coordinate new product and process releases and related changes.
  13. Implement containments, root cause analysis, and definition/implementation of corrective actions in case of quality issues.
Qualifications:
  1. Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  2. Proven professional skills as an experienced engineer with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies/procedures.
  3. Ability to receive little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments.
  4. Solve complex technical problems independently.
  5. Manage multiple projects at one time.
  6. Exceptional written and oral English communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  7. Analyze circuits using circuit simulation software (e.g., Pspice, Matlab, Mathcad).
  8. Read and create schematic drawings using software applications (e.g., PCAD, Altium).
  9. Experience with enterprise resource planning tools – SAP.
  10. Ability to lead team members.
  11. Influence and negotiate in complex situations.
Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Electrical safety training (additional company safety courses may be required).
