Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced EHS and Construction Safety Specialist to join our infrastructure team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, contractors, and visitors at our datacenter sites.

You will develop and implement safety strategies, policies, and procedures to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and Implement Safety Strategies

Collaborate with project managers to prepare site-specific datacenter safety documentation, including JHA's, H&S plans, reports, and permits.

Ensure Regulatory Compliance

Develop a management strategy to ensure compliance with EHS and Facilities regulations and codes, and act as the primary contact to regulatory agencies and government authorities.

Maintain Current Knowledge

Stay up-to-date with safety rules, regulations, and laws to ensure all projects comply with company safety policies, client requirements, and adherence to regulatory safety laws.

Lead EHS Incidents

Lead all EHS incidents for the region, develop safety incident reporting, conduct post-mortem, and implement corrective actions.

Develop and Deliver Training Programs

Lead the Employee Safety Training Program, including developing and delivering a training curriculum and selecting and evaluating outside consultants/trainers as needed.

Ensure Electrical Safety and Control

Ensure electrical safety, control of hazardous energy (lockout/tagout), occupational noise exposure & control, heat stress & illness prevention, exposure assessment (industrial hygiene), emergency response planning, working at heights, confined space entry, heavy material handling, powered industrial trucks (forklifts), construction-related risks (cranes, rigging, trenching/shoring, mobile work platforms, etc.), fire & life safety, hazardous substances handling, waste management, spill prevention control and countermeasures (SPCC), risk assessment and mitigation methodology, 3rd party safety supplies management.

Ensure Environmental Program Compliance

Ensure Environmental Program Compliance to include air, wastewater, hazardous waste, and stormwater permitting as required, including regulatory permitting.

Work with Corporate EHS Team

Work closely and maintain relations with Corporate EHS Team to ensure the appropriate site support.

Coordinate Emergency Response Training

Coordinate and conduct the Emergency Response Training and Drills with the Site Emergency Response Team.

Specify Safety Equipment Inventory

Specify the procurement and maintenance of safety equipment inventory to ensure that onsite personnel have adequate protection for workplace hazards.

Provide Support and Metrics

Responsible for providing support and delivering metrics/results at the site and corporate level.

Establish Ergonomics Programs

In collaboration with Corporate EHS teams, establish and run comprehensive ergonomics programs.

Lead Day-to-Day Programs

Lead and influence day-to-day programs, including new employee orientation, training, and regulatory record keeping/reporting.

Adapt to Changes

Adapt to changes in the work environment and demonstrate flexibility as issues or concerns arise. Shift priorities and work at a rapid pace.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Proven years of datacenter EHS experience.
  2. First Aid/CPR/AED certified or equivalent (BLS, ALS, etc.).
  3. Knowledge of OSHA 29, OSHA 30, ANSI, ASME, and NPPA, DOT regulations, Clean Water Act, and RCRA requirements.
  4. Fundamental understanding of FEMA ICS and NIMS, minimum ICS 100 and NIMS 700.
  5. Must be knowledgeable for RCRA requirements especially for SQG and universal waste protocols.
  6. Excellent statistical and analytical skills.
  7. Experience at issue tracking, triaging, and crisis management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Certified Security Professional (CSP).
  2. Understanding of security frameworks (NIST, CSF, CIS, ISO, SOC2, etc.) is a plus.
  3. Excellent leadership and cross-functional collaboration abilities to engage with colleagues to maintain a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  4. Strong project management and organizational skills.
  5. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with quick turnaround, be able to meet short deadlines in a timely and accurate manner.
  6. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety and environmental rules, operating and maintenance instructions, Code of Federal regulation, OSHA regulations, and other consensus standards, and procedure manuals.
