Thermal Engineering Director

We are seeking a highly experienced Thermal Engineering Director to lead our thermal team in designing and testing thermal solutions for IT equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in thermal design, simulation, and test validation, as well as experience in managing thermal teams.
Key Responsibilities:- Thermal Team Leadership: Manage a team of thermal engineers to design and test thermal solutions for IT equipment, ensuring robust thermal solution implementation.
- Thermal Resource Management: Oversee and review thermal deliverables, manage thermal resources, and schedule to ensure program development on schedule.
- Comprehensive Proposal Development: Lead the team in developing comprehensive thermal proposals to support RFQs, ensuring timely and effective technical responses.
- Thermal Solution Development: Lead the team in providing optimal thermal solutions that meet product specifications and customer expectations, collaborating with software, mechanical, and other function teams.
- Process Improvement: Establish and continuously improve thermal processes and guidelines, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
- Vendor Management: Interface with thermal parts vendors to manage cost, quality, and functionality.
- Technology Research and Adoption: Track leading-edge thermal technology, formulate a thermal technology roadmap aligned with product line roadmaps, and lead the team on thermal technology research and adoption.
- Team Development: Hire and mentor new team members, ensuring a skilled and motivated team.
- Experience: 20+ years of experience in thermal design/simulation/test validation for electronic products, with IT equipment experience preferred.
- Team Management: 5+ years of experience in managing teams of 10+ members, with experience in building a team from 0 to 1 preferred.
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree or above in Thermodynamics or relevant engineering.
- Technical Skills: Strong user of Flotherm as a CFD analysis tool, with transient analysis experience a plus.
- Expertise: Expertise in various heat sinks, heat pipes, vapor chambers, liquid cooling, or other advanced cooling technologies a plus.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with thermal measurement technology and test tools, such as temperature data loggers, IR cameras, wind tunnels, air speed meters, etc.
- Software Skills: Knowledge of 3D tools like Creo a plus.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with industry standards, including NEBS, GR-63, ASHRAE TC9.9, MSA, etc.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills.
