Job Description:

The Assistant Store Manager plays a pivotal role in managing the day-to-day operations of a retail store. This position involves overseeing all store functions, ensuring seamless execution of tasks, and driving sales performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and deliver sales performance for the store/outlet.
  • Foster implementation of product/sales strategies to drive business growth.
  • Communicate sales goals and targets to the team on a continuous basis.
  • Prepare necessary sales reports for managers.

Delivering WOW Experience

  • Provide exceptional customer experiences that delight and engage every shopper by following the 7 steps to WOW.

Operations Excellence

  • Conduct daily briefings with retail staff on target highlights and objectives.
  • Monitor stock availability to ensure efficient inventory management.
  • Maintain compliance with the store's standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Maintain visually appealing displays for promotional and seasonal activities.
  • Prepare monthly reports for managers.

Talent Development

  • Supervise retail staff to foster a high-performing team environment.
  • Encourage team members to demonstrate Valiram Entrepreneurial Spirit.
  • Act as second-in-command in the absence of the manager to address staff-related matters.

Competencies:

  • Technical skills: MS Excel for reporting, cash & receipt management, inventory control, crisis management, retail administration, people management, loss prevention, productivity improvement, and communication.
  • General skills: teamwork, team leadership, problem identification, interpersonal skills.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 4-5 years of total retail experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
  • SPM/Diploma in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to communicate, influence, and negotiate effectively with all levels of leadership.
  • Proven organizational skills – able to manage multiple demands and allocate time effectively.
  • Ability to analyze situations and resolve issues with innovation and creativity.
