**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Ensure laboratory services are available as scheduled and manage the timely processing of specimens.
- Obtain appropriate specimens, conduct tests, and report results promptly.
- Demonstrate competency in using all instruments and analyzers relevant to the microbiology speciality, as well as other manual laboratory techniques.
- Perform internal and external quality control procedures, analyzing data and results for competency.
- Operate and maintain lab equipment; perform regular checks for functionality and cleanliness, addressing faults as necessary.
- Utilize Laboratory Information System (LIS) efficiently and maintain familiarity with test codes and registration procedures.
- Ensure knowledge of tests, specimen requirements, rejection criteria, sample labelling, and reagent acceptance testing.
- Perform culturing, drug susceptibility testing, and identification of bacteria and yeast; operate necessary testing equipment competently.
- Assist the lab manager in compiling data for method verification of new analyzers and reagents.
- Maintain effective communication with the lab manager regarding test result amendments, troubleshooting, and equipment malfunctions.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science, Microbiology, or a related field.
- Valid certification as an Allied Health Professional is preferred.
- Experience in a microbiology lab is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
