Health and Safety Officer

1. General Role

1.1 To participate in all Quality and Environmental Management System activities e.g. ISO 9001 & 14001 series, improvements programs, auditing efforts and etc.

1.2 To lead & coordinate in the review, develop, continuously improve and maintain the performance and effectiveness of the company’s Safety System.

1.3 To ensure all activities relating to Safety System are updated and reported on time.

1.4 To inspect the place of work to determine whether any machinery, plant, equipment, substance, appliance or process or any description of manual labour used in the place of work, is of such nature liable to cause bodily injury to any person working in the place of work.

1.5 To advice the management or person in charge of the work place on the measurers to be taken in the interest of the safety and health of the persons employed in the place of work

1.6 To review and develop company procedures with internal departments in order to standardize the practices that will affect performance of company Occupational Health and Safety.

2. Accidents

2.1 To investigate any accident, near miss accident, dangerous occurrence, occupational poisoning or occupational disease which has happened in the place of work.

2.2 To collect, analyze and maintain statistics of any accident, dangerous occurrences, occupational disease that have at the place of work & report to management & DOSH.

3. Law requirement

3.1 To assist the management or the safety and health committee, if any, pursuant to regulation 11 of the occupational safety and health (Safety and Health committee) Regulation 1996 in organizing and implementing occupational safety and health program at the place of work.

3.2 To assist any officer in carrying out his/ her duty under the Act or any regulation made under the Act.

3.3 To be the secretary for the safety and health committee, as specified under sub regulation 6 (2) of the Occupational Safety and Health Safety and Health Committee) Regulation 1996, and perform all functions of a secretary as specified in the regulation. Frequency of repeat submission to DOSH and meeting to be held 3 months once.

3.4 To lead the safety and health committee in any inspection of the place of work for the purpose of checking the effectiveness and efficiency of any measurers taken in compliance with an act or any regulations made under the act.

4. Audits

4.1 To plan and organize Safety System Audit on quarterly basis and coordinate on improvement activities on any non-compliance issues.
4.2 To coordinate with internal departments on all the customer/ external audits to ensure safety system effectiveness.

4.3 To be responsible on up-keeping of audit files and carry out follow-up audits.

To perform any other duties as assigned by your superior(s) from time to time.

AUTHORITY

1. To issue Corrective Action Request and follow up on non-conformance.

2. To reschedule and coordinate internal audit when audits are not carried out per schedule.

3. As specified by Regulations to advice the management on safety matters part (5), 18 (a) of the Safety and Health officer regulation 1997.
