About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Junior Safety Officer to join our team in Perak. As a full-time position, this role will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of health and safety within our mining operations. You will play a crucial part in maintaining a safe and compliant working environment for our employees.

What you'll be doing

  • Conducting regular safety inspections and risk assessments across our mining sites
  • Implementing and monitoring safety protocols and procedures to mitigate potential hazards
  • Providing safety training, toolbox talks and emergency drills.
  • Investigating and reporting on any incidents or accidents, and recommending corrective actions
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and legislation
  • Collaborating with management to develop and improve safety policies and practices
  • Maintaining comprehensive records and documentation related to safety matters

What we're looking for

  • Relevant qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field
  • 1-2 years of experience in a safety officer or similar role within the mining industry
  • Thorough understanding of health and safety regulations and best practices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address safety risks
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with all levels of staff
  • Proficient in using safety monitoring and reporting software
  • A proactive and detail-oriented approach to maintaining a safe work environment
