Group Operations Manager
**Position Summary**
As **Group Operations Manager**, you convert strategy into predictable, profitable field delivery across Sonicon, SGI, Xradar — and future service lines as the company expands. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you own the people, plant, cost, and systems that enable the business to scale efficiently, deliver reliably, and outcompete in execution quality.
**Core Responsibilities**
**Integrated Planning & Site Control**
- Run a live manpower and equipment schedule across all divisions, ensuring resource sufficiency and optimal allocation.
- Plan and manage overtime requirements to meet job schedules without burning out teams or inflating cost.
- Ensure crews consistently meet productivity targets and solve operational issues on-site to keep jobs on time and within budget.
- Design and implement job-specific jigs, custom tools, or setups to increase output and safety where standard methods fall short.
**Cost & Productivity Management**
- Identify opportunities to optimise operational costs and eliminate inefficiencies.
- Develop accurate unit-cost benchmarks to support tendering and estimating.
- Provide Finance with rolling cashflow and WIP forecasts; proactively manage variation orders and claims.
**Asset & Vendor Optimisation**
- Manage equipment utilisation, maintenance, and ROI to guide repair or redeployment decisions.
- Optimise vendor, subcontractor, and consumables sourcing through performance-based selection and usage tracking.
- Oversee store management and material planning, ensuring 5S compliance and timely, cost-efficient resource flow to sites.
**Risk, Safety & Compliance**
- Establish and maintain HIRARC documentation for every live project; prepare contingency plans for breakdowns, weather disruptions, labour shortages and other risks.
- Ensure compliance with CIDB, ISO 9001/45001/17020 and relevant safety or regulatory standards; lead site-level HSE audits and reviews.
**Data, Reporting & Systems**
- Centralise all schedules, cost sheets, VO logs, site photos and other project documents into a structured digital system.
- Ensure full traceability and quick retrieval of operational data to support decision-making, audits, and project reviews.
**People Development & Leadership**
- Manage all Division Leads, site supervisors and dotted-line Project Engineers; build a pipeline of new leaders through structured mentoring and skill assessments.
- Take ownership of hiring, training, crew reassignment or dismissal decisions based on performance and business needs.
- Cross-train team members between divisions to increase flexibility, balance peak workloads, and create group-wide operational synergy.
**Client Delivery & Feedback**
- Act as the technical face of the company on-site — instilling client confidence, solving issues directly, and representing Sonicon Group professionally.
- Ensure 95%+ of jobs meet contractual timelines and that no job is abandoned without recovery action.
- Lead structured debriefs with clients after major projects; extract lessons learned and feed improvements into future tender plans and SOPs.
**R&D and Technical Expansion into New Services**
- Execute new services to a professional standard aligned with company goals.
- Conduct methods research, trial setups, and training plans to enable high quality delivery of new scopes.
- Recommend and evaluate new technologies or workflows that improve competitiveness, output, or client value.
**Requirements**:
- Experience: 8+ years managing multi-project field ops in specialist contracting, civil works, M&E or similar environments.
- Technical & Cost Acumen: Strong in job costing, unit-rate analysis, asset ROI, and logistics planning. Can develop custom jigs/tools and coordinate site logistics.
- Systems Mindset: Built and enforced scalable tools, dashboards, and SOPs that teams follow.
- Leadership: Confident leading supervisors and crews; makes clear, respected people decisions.
- Negotiation: Secures value-for-money deals with suppliers, subs, vendors, and clients.
- Safety & Compliance: Well-versed in CIDB, DOSH, ISO; zero-tolerance for unsafe practices.
- Languages: Fluent in BM and English; Mandarin/Cantonese a plus on site and with vendors.

Pay: RM8,000.00 - RM12,000.00 per month
**Benefits**:
