**Job summary**:
The Demi Chef is responsible for assisting the superior chef in preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards. This role involves in maintaining the highest levels of food quality and hygiene, supporting the kitchen team and contributing to a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**1. Food Preparation & Cooking**:
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of various dishes according to the menu and recipes.
- Ensure all food is prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation.
- Follow recipes, portion controls and presentation specifications as set by the restaurant.
**2.Station Management**:
- Work under the direction of the Chef De Partie to manage a specific section of the kitchen.
- Ensure that all mise-en-place is prepared and organized before service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the assigned section.
**3.Quality Control**:
- Ensure all food items are prepared, cooked and presented in accordance with the restaurant's standards.
- Check the quality and freshness of ingredients before use.
- Monitor stock levels and assist in the ordering and inventory control of ingredients.
**4.Hygiene and Safety**:
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards.
- Keep workstations and kitchen equipment clean and sanitized.
- Report any maintenance or repair need to Chef de Partie.
**5.Team Collaboration**:
- Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
- Assist in training junior kitchen staff as required.
- Communicate effectively with the Chef de Partie and other team members to ensure smooth service.
**6.Continuous Improvement**:
- Stay updated on food trends and techniques to contribute to menu development.
- Provide input and suggestions for improving recipes and kitchen processes.
- Participate in kitchen meetings and training sessions.
**Qualifications**:
- Proven experience as a Senior Commis, Commis Chef or similar role in a high-volume kitchen.
- At least 3 years of working experience is needed.
- Culinary degree or equivalent qualification preferred.
- Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures.
- Able to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality and hygiene.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to work various shift, including weekends and holidays.
**Physical Requirements**:
- Able to stand for extended periods.
- Able to lift and carry heavy items.
- Stamina to work in a high temperature kitchen environment.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: RM3,000.00 - RM4,000.00 per month
