Role Summary

The Senior Manager, HRBP – Malaysia will act as a key HR partner supporting business growth and transformation in the Malaysia hub. This is an individual contributor role requiring a hands-on approach, strong field engagement, and the ability to work in a dynamic environment. The incumbent will conduct weekly site visits to various locations to connect with mechanics and operational teams, manage employee relations, lead union negotiations, and drive employee engagement initiatives to keep both office and field employees motivated and connected.

Key Responsibilities

Business Partnership & Field Engagement

  • Serve as a trusted HR advisor to business leaders and operational teams across Malaysia.
  • Take a proactive, on-the-ground approach by visiting sites weekly (Johor Bahru, Penang, Kuching and Brunei) to engage with mechanics and understand workforce challenges.
  • Build strong relationships with field employees to improve retention and career progression.

Union & Employee Relations

  • Lead union negotiations and manage union-related matters end-to-end, ensuring compliance with labor laws and company policies.
  • Address employee concerns promptly and foster a positive work environment.
  • Act as the primary liaison between management and union representatives to maintain constructive relationships.

Employee Engagement

  • Design and implement employee engagement programs for both office and field teams to enhance morale and retention.
  • Organize initiatives that promote inclusion, recognition, and connectivity across dispersed locations.
  • Partner with supervisors to ensure engagement activities align with operational needs.

Talent & Workforce Planning

  • Support workforce planning and ensure readiness for future skill requirements.
  • Partner with supervisors to identify training needs and implement development programs for mechanics and technical staff.

Performance & Development

  • Drive performance management processes and support career development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with managers to create upskilling plans for technical roles.

Data & Insights

  • Use HR data and feedback from site visits to inform decisions and improve employee experience.

Qualifications

  • 8–10+ years of HR experience, with strong exposure to field operations and workforce engagement.
  • Proven experience in union negotiations and labor relations management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, operational environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to connect with employees at all levels.
  • Knowledge of Malaysian labor laws and HR practices.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in industrial or technical workforce environments.
  • Ability to travel frequently within Malaysia (weekly site visits) (Johor Bahru, Penang, Kuching and Brunei).
  • Hands-on, solution-oriented mindset with a willingness to work in the field (Johor Bahru, Penang, Kuching and Brunei) and address challenges directly.
